i have tried powering up with the power cable connected yes, the charging indicator light lights up for 10 sconds or so then goes off, could the adaptor be bad and therefore the battery died also ?

  • dreehme Jun 19, 2009

should i also unplug the charger ? i have also been trying to find out if my laptop works with just the charger and not the battery, do you know ?? I ask becasue when i unplug the battery and attempt to turn on the laptop with just the charger plugged in I get the same results, nothing.

  • dreehme Jun 19, 2009

Have you tried to boot the laptop with the power cable connected? Is the charging indicator on when you connect it to the adapter? If the charging indicator does not light up, check if your adapter output and try booting it with the power cable connected.

If the charging indicator shows up for ten secs it is fine. Remove the battery from the laptop and put it back after ten mins and turn on again.

Please try what I suggested and get back. I have never tried turning it on without a battery, so I am actually not sure about it. And I have power down here right now so I cannot check it at the moment. I shall let you know as soon as power restores. Do you have a multimeter?

Then you will need to get the battery checked.

So definitely the problem is with the motherboard. It's better you entrust the service with some qualified service personnel.

The dv6000 series was commonly affected by the video card heating up and reseating itself. This was usually a soldering issue. You have a few options, You can either replace the motherboard, or have the motherboard reflowed. Unfortunately the video card itself is not detachable or individually replaceable.

I personally would recommend the second option as purchasing another dv6000 board will likely end you up in the same situation a year or 2 later.

My hp pavilion dv6000 touch pad locked up, it no longer responds.

Try pressing the button above the touchpad to make the light blue, that should re-enable the touchpad again.

MY hp pavillon dv6000 won't turn on. I press the power button and the blue lights turn on but they turn off at the same second, not even the fan turns on. PLEASE HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. Take the battery out of the laptop & try to turn on the laptop using power adapter only. If the computer turns on, then the battery is defective & needs to be replaced.
2. Make sure the power adapter is not defective. Test the output voltage of the power adapter using a voltmeter. Compare the voltmeter reading to the nominal value written on the adapter or the laptop.
3. Make sure the DC jack is not loose or broken. A loose DC jack will need to be re-soldered. A broken one will need to be replaced.
4. If you have another processor which is compatible with your laptop's model, try swapping processors & test to see if the laptop will work.
5. The power button could be bad.
6. The motherboard could be defective & needs to be replaced.

Hp pavilion dv6000 turns onn and off

I had a similar problem with my pavilion. They have a cooling fan design that allows for lint buildup and subsequent overheating. You could try using a compressed air and blowing out the exhaust vent area for the fans.
