OK, I have that manual and I will need you to email me so I can send you the service manual. The manual has some diagnostic test that you can do by pressing the control buttons and the codes that come up will lead use to the problem. If you do not have Adobe you can go to search for free addition of adobe 9

You have a great refrigerator, but it has about as many control functions as a 747.Don't think you will have any problems following the manual.

    My email is

That is odd, maybe if you copy and paste. The manual is very large but because of copyright issues I don't think I should post it here.. Call 864-812-1887 let ring 3 times and I will call you and get your email. Sea Breeze

Thank you for the rate. I have done about fifty solutions and no one rated me. I was beginning to worry what is wrong. If you run into problem I am here. Your refrigerator is complex but just be thankful to Maytag for their support. Maytag is about the only company that supports the customer in this way. Sea Breeze

The back of the freezer keeps freezing up. Not keeping refrigerator cold enough. Coils behind back freezer panel keep freezing up. It is 10 years old. Easy fix or time to get a new refrigerator

Easy Fix See Below

NOTE: This
is a multi-solution answer since I don't have all the tech from your question to pinpoint your problem
But the solution is in here generically, if you read and study the solutions very, very carefully.
First I would check cold control. Thats where you turn it off, if your temp is not warm. it can
be defective and not shutting off. If your temp is warm proceed with the following.
I would check the fan in the freezer. Listen to see if it is running
It moves air to the ref from the freezer
Then check to see if freezer control is turned WARMER, which makes the Ref. colder
Also this might be a common Defrost problem, Ice
is not being melted by the defrost system. The fan can't blow through the coils into the fridge.
Take out back panel of freezer to check for ice buildup. The coils should be clean.
There are three components to a defrost system- a heater, heater thermostat, and a timer unless you have a defrost electronic card.
Its best handled by a Technician but you could possibly do it by taking your model number to the nearest appliance parts store and asking for the parts. They are mostly located in freezer ,behind back panel on freezer coils.except the card which is usually located in ref The parts store will have info
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath
Check cold control (thats where you turn it colder)

I have a stainless GE profile PSS26SGPASS side by side fridge and suddenly the freezer and fridge wont hold the temp settign I put. The fan works, the controls work to lower the temp setting but it isn't...

Many times a freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many other things that can go wrong.

If you are hearing a clicking or buzzing then check out the last two tips.

If your refrigerator is running but warm, then...

Check out these tips that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...

Refrigerator keeps freezing even when i turn the temp knob to 1 or low?

The thermostat or temp control may be bad causing the system to run non-stop.

There could also be a problem within the refrigerant cycle. Maybe a low charge, or no/faulty defrost cycle.

If the unit pulls to temp and continues to pull lower until it freezes, then the problem is most likely the temp control. If it will not pull to temp and the evaporator freezes up, then you may have a refrigerant charge issue.

Remember that the temp control on that unit is a coil temp sensor. It does not measure the air temp but rather the temp of the evaporator coil. So a larger air temp swing is expected, but the system should not be freezing up at all.

The top part of the refrig keep freezing?

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

GE Profile refrigerator temperature problem

refrigerators have 2 coils. the evaporator coil and the condensing coil. one is on the bottom of the fridg and one is on the back or inside behind a false panel. these coils must be kept clean or if the condensing coil cannot reject the heat absorbed by the evaporator, the box temp will stay high and if the evap coil cant absorb heat the box temp stays low running the risk of freezing

Ge profile Ps27sgra refrigerator and freezef are

Hi, this problem is going to be with the running thermostat2.gif (cold Control). It has gone bad and stays open which in turn will keep the compressor running continually and will cause the fridge2.gif to get colder and freeze food. It can normally be located in the control panel inside the fridge (it is the control that has wires, the other is the damper). Locate the thermostat and replace it. If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to comment again. Good Luck!! Mike

Fridge is not cooling, freezer is keeping food frozen, but would not re-freeze anything on coldest temp

Check your evaporator and condensor coils to make sure they are clean. Most service calls are because of blocked coils and dirt build up. If your fridge is older the compressor might be getting weak and not compressing like it should.

Freezer compartment of refrigerator not freezing

First, I think it’s important to know that the Ref side has no cooling coils, it’s basically a box and the cold air in the freezer is blown over by a fan through a channel into the Ref side. This channel has a door which regulates how much cold air goes through. You probably have two control knobs in the Ref side, one controls the temp with numbers 1-9, 9 being the coldest. This temp control tells the compressor how long to run. The other control is for that little door and it may have letters A-E, E being the coldest. If you set it on E (coldest) then this will close that little door and keep most the cold air in the freezer.
So, how can the Ref side be cold and the freezer side not freezing?

1. Coolant leak. There is enough coolant to keep the Ref side cool but not enough to freeze on the freezer side.

2. Defrost system failure. The coils on the freezer side are clogged with ice and it's just a matter of time when the Ref side won't cool either. The back wall in the freezer will be covered with ice/frost
