SOURCE: How do I remove the washable filter to clean it on my Dyson bagless vacuum?

As you are looking down at the base of the machine (viewing from the front) you will notice a yellow button on the right side just inside of the the wheel area. push up the button to release the casing that holds the hepa filter and the spongy filter. You can see a diagram on your machine which shows this process. After you take the casing from the machine, the round housing which houses the 2 filters will come out of this casing as you pull it off. You can grab the spongy filter and pull it our of the casing. Rinse both filters as shown in diagrams on the side of the casing. Do not use soapy water, just warm water and squeeze out the spongy filter after each new soaking. Let the filters dry for 12 hours and then replace in your unit and enjoy the refurbished air movement. It does suggest that you clean these filters every 6 months.

SOURCE: lack of suction in hose

That popping sound is the bleed valve activating - it indicates that there is a blockage in the machine somewhere, probably in the wand if you're saying that there is no suction in the wand.

- Take the wand off the back of the machine - press the two gray buttons to separate it from the hose - hold the wand in the air and look through it - if you can't see the light coming through the other side there's a blockage in the wand - taka a long object like a meytal hanger and remove the blockage.

If that's not the problem, call the Dyson helpline for further troubleshooting, they know what they're doing.

SOURCE: My Dyson DC20 motorhead vacuum has a blocked hose

Usually a plugged hose can be cleared using a broom handle, if you can force the blockage through, if not as previously suggested a coat hanger attached to the broom handle (duck tape will do) straighten out hanger so it can be used like a cork screw to screw into the blockage and pull it out, socks, underwear and pantyhose are the usual suspects!

SOURCE: my dyson vacuum won' t transfer vacuum to the

  • Well you need to find out where the blockage is coming from.
  1. First place to check is the wand and hose. To do this you want to push back on the wand cap and pull the metal tube from the inside upwards until the wand handle and the hose pull away from the vacuum. And to separate the wand from the handle hose you need to press the red button to release it that is located on the wand handle and separate the wand and hos (see picture.
  2. Now turn the vacuum on and see if there is suction. If there is suction. If the is suction then you need to clear the blockage form the wand and or hose.
  3. If not the see comments below picture.

  • The problem could also be from the brush bar. To check this please go to this link and watch the small instructional video. http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=1515&product=DC18-ALLFLOORSHSN
  • Make sure the dirt container is cleaned out good too.
  • Make sure there are no major rips or tears in the hose either.
  • One of these is your problem and it can happen from time to time from vacuuming over something unintended. Unclog it using the tips I provided and you will be goo to go.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

I have just brought a Dyson DC 07 from an auction . It seems ti have a blockage or somthing in the8 cyclone part

    Hi its Darran at Dyson.

With the bin separated from the cyclone top, try lightly banging the side of the cyclone top while holding it over a bin. This should remove any dust or debris caught inside.

If this doesnt clear it a replacement cyclone top can be purchased direct from Dyson via www.dyson.com.

    Kind regards

Brush stopped spinning from fabric being sucked into it, how can I fix it? It's a Dyson animal vacum. The belt is not moving from the lower motor.

    Turn upsidedown.
There should be 3 plastic screws in a triangle shape.
Loosen, but do not attempt to remove the screws.
This will release a shield that will expose the brushes.
Carefully remove the debris and fabric from the brushes.
This may be your problem. Also, check the belt while you have this open.
Replace shield and tighten screws and check function.

    Burning smell

Have you checked the the hoses are free of debris?
Is the setting for floor on when you are vacuuming the carpet.

Turn id on an see if it will **** up some pennies.
    Use the hose for that.

Check for string hair, etc cought in the brush.
Use the small pick knife that should have came w/ the dyson to cut away and thing caught in the brush.

    Hope this helps.

    Dyson Animal-suction loss

Had the same problem twice and washed the filter to no avail. Called Dyson to troubleshoot, and in one minute they had me removing the purple plastic noodle shaped piece towards the bottom on the side (the next time it was the silver noodle on the opposite side). Inside was a bent pen and tons of debris wrapped around it that slowed the suction. Poked the debris out, and it worked perfectly.
