Try entering the bios and see if the c: drive is loaded. If it is then make sure it is included in the "boot" section of the bios.

My laptop displays Smart Hard Disk Error please help, it says the following: The Smart hard disk check has detected asn imminent failure.

This error message means you need to copy/backup the data on this hard drive before it fails completely. When the hard drive fails completely you will have to replace it.

Just replaced my hdd on Compac Presario 2100 but the system is not detecting it.

This model laptop came with a 60Gb hard disk and if you installed a much larger capacity hard disk then the BIOS cannot detect this hard disk.
For the BIOS to detect a large hard disk a BIOS upgrade is required (if there is one available) Check the HP/Compaq WEB site to see if there is a BIOS upgrade.
If not the try a 120Gb or smaller capacity hard drive.
As an alternative -
You can keep the existing hard drive in your laptop and use an external USB hard drive to store your data.

XP installation problem - HP Cpmpaq 6720s Laptop [HDD detection error]

The hard disk is not detected because this model notebook has a SATA hard drive installed and the XP installation CD does not have a SATA driver, unless you have a SATA drive on a disk etc. and can install the driver when XP asks for a hard drive driver then, XP cannot detect the hard disk and therefore won't install XP. The FIX.
Go into the BIOS and disable the SATA drive (enable IDE emulation), this will make XP think it is a IDE/PATA hard disk. Then you can install XP normally. When Windows has been installed then install all the device drivers (including the SATA driver), then shut down and boot up and got into the BIOS and enable the SATA drive.

I have a HP nx6125. I'm unable to get it to recognize the hard-drive. I have tried 3. I even replaced the motherboard. Any thoughts on how to resolve this issue.

So, it is the same Axe, three different heads, and two handles? Well I have never heard of two MB's & three drives all being faulty. You must have something else common to it all? Are you sure your Power supply is OK. Does the drive get power, spin up? do anything? have you got a service manual. link below, use this to work through troubleshooting. bizsupport.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/.../SupportManual/.../c00486161.pdf -

Harddisk is not getting detected

You computer cannot find your hard disk. The hard drive could be faulty or the hard disk controller has failed.
Reseat the hard drive (remove it and install it again), this may fix your problem with the connector on the motherboard.
If reseating doesn't work, the hard drive may be faulty, remove the drive and insert it into a USB hard drive adapter and plug it into a working computer's USB port, if this computer see your hard disk as an external drive and you can see the contents of the hard drive then it is OK and the fault most likely is the controler in the laptop.
If you cannot see the hard drive then the hard drive is faulty. To get your laptop operational again, you need a new hard disk and need to install Windows on the new hard disk together with your
