Question about Hitachi 57SWX20B 57" Rear Projection Television
I am just getting beat up by this TV. I was having issues similar to what i was reading on here. I replaced BOTH conv. chips ith the STK392-150 'upgrade'. Now i have a whole new set of headaches:
1. After about 1/2 hour the screen starts to shrink and cutoff about 4 inches or so of the left screen while keeping everything else in ratio...pretty strange and really similar of the orignal problem which led me to replace the convergance chips in the first place.
2. The blue is WAY!!!! off...inches. Far past repairing with a manual magic focus.
3. I have toy'd a little and learned how to trigger the alignment screen with the small button on the convergence chip board (next to the v and h size) I have been unable to find any other pot's for adjusting that blue. The other two colors are right on. The blue is pinched in the center. Its close in the center but far off on the outside edges, arching in to the center.
4. I assume due to the size of the heatsinks on the convergence chips that they are meant to heat up, but they get really hot. I either have an issue or wonder why hitachi didn't put a small fan in the unit.-any help with be appreciated as im pretty dead in the water.
I bet you have a open resistor for the blue sub yoke. Typically it would be a 2.2 omh or a 1.5 ohm. Some times it is hard to tell buy looking at them. It you have a Ohm Meter, unplug the set, pull the sub yoke plugs from there connectors.(They are the plugs right behind the heat-sinks) . If you know the resister color code it will be a must to determin if any are open or increased in value. If you see a resister that has two red bands and two gold bands, it it a 2.2 ohm. A resister with a brown band, green band, and two gold bands is a 1.5 ohm. On some occasions, you will see a brown band, a white band and two gold bands, this is a 1.8 ohm. This circuit does not give much leeway for subing with wrong values and it even could cause premature failure if the IC's again. One last thing, double check that all the pins made it through the board when mounting and are not touching each other top side of board. As far as the one side of the picture pulling in , I think it is all related. I have seen defective STK392-150's new out of the bag.
Well thats all I can tell you at this point.
