I have a GPX3337 mp3 and use Windows XP. Since Media Player does not give me the option to delete songs from the mp3, these are the steps I use to remove a song:
1. Connect device using USB cable.
2. On the mp3, select "MTP"
3. Then, open "My Computer"
4. Click on "GPX Audio Player"
5. Click on "Audio Player"
6. Contents of mp3 should be listed inside the file. You may need to go deeper and deeper into the file to find the song(s) you want to delete.
7. Right click on song you want to remove. Select "Delete."

Here's how you get it
you may have to open Windows Media Player but maybe not
a screen will come saying for you to choose either NO leave all the media on the device... or YES delete all media.
click YES but MAKE SURE you have the HOLD button on OFF. if you dont... it will not work
after it completes the task click FINISH
i tried for hours trying to figure it out and that made it work like a charm! =]
