SOURCE: Panasonic cordless handsets all say line in use

I had the same problem. Something makes the phone's memory get "stuck."  Take the battery out of the phone for a minute and then put it back. Then unplug the phone and plug in again. You need to do this with all extensions. The problem goes away.

SOURCE: Panasonic DECT 6.0 - Inuse

I have gotten a line in use signal when there is a break in my phone wiring. Thus the first step is to determine what has failed - the phone base, handset, the cord, the jack, household wiring or outside line.

I prefer to use an old corded phone (no power brick around or other basic failure issues) with a different phone wire for diagnostics of the wiring. First plug in the spare phone at the jack where the Panasonic phone is connected. Do you get a normal dial tone with this other phone? If not, try another jack. If you still have no dial tone, find the service box where your telephone service comes in. If you are lucky, the terminals in this box will have RJ-11 jacks. In that case, plug in your test phone and check for dial tone. If there is still no dial tone, contact your phone company, they will repair the line for free.

If there is a dial tone at the service box, then it's an interior wiring problem. Check any exposed wiring for breaks. You can remove the faceplate for the telephone jacks to check for loose wires. Most faceplates use either keystones with the wires pushed into the terminal pins (need a punch-down tool to push in a wire - these are available at home improvement stores) or screw-type terminals (loosen the screw, strip the individual conductor and wrap around the screw then retighten). If the bad wire is inside the wall, you may want a professional to find and fix the problem. Your phone company will do this for a fee.

If your test phone had a dial tone at the original jack, then make sure that the base was plugged in and has power. Check if the power transformer is warm or cold. If it is cold, the transformer has failed and the base has no power. The transformer is part number: PQLV207 (output 6.5 V DC, 0.5 A) Try using the new phone cord that you used with the test phone. Make sure that the handset battery is fully charged and the handset is registered to the base. (I've had handsets loose their registration during an extended power outage.) If the battery is more than a year old, replace it. If you have a new battery and the handset battery will not stay charged, the charger may be bad.

If your phone is under warranty and has failed, let Panasonic fix it. Otherwise, you should replace the phone if the phone has failed. These units are not user serviceable.

The manual for the phone is available here: http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Phones-Fax/Telephones/DECT-6-0-Phones/model.KX-TG1033S .

I hope this helps.

(who has had the Line In Use message at the following times: road crew dug up phone line, DSL filter failed, rodents chewed on underground incoming wires. All of the above were fixed by a phone company technician. My test phone gives me fast busy signal or no sound at all since it doesn't have a line in use signal.)

SOURCE: Panasonic KX-T7730, we have a 824 phone system and cordless handsets (kx-tg1711) we cannot make outgoing calls on these handests but can take incoming calls and can transfer calls. how do we programme

  • Locate the program and auto-store button on your telephone. You will be using these to customize many of the features on your KX-T7730. The program button is used to enter or exit programming.

  • 2

Program your outgoing line preference, i.e., the line you prefer to seize when you go off hook. Press "Program" "1" "1" "store" for no line. Press "Program" "1" "2" "Store" for an idle outside line. Press "Program" "1" "3" "Outside Line Number" "Store" for an assigned outside line. The outside line number will be a single or double-digit number that is set through your phone system.

  • 3

Program your incoming line preference, i.e., the line you prefer to answer when you go off hook. Press "Program" "2" "1 "Store" for no line. Press "Program "2" "2" "Store" for ringing line. Press "Program" "3" "Outside Line Number" "Store" for an assigned outside line.

  • 4

Program your flexible CO buttons. These are the inner row of 12 lighted buttons. Your outside lines need to be programmed to these--you can choose any of these 12 buttons in any order. Press "Program" "CO Button" "0" "Outside Line Number" "Store." The outside line number will be a single or double-digit number that is set through your phone system.

  • 5

Program any other unused flexible CO buttons for an extension number or any frequently dialed phone number. Press "Program" "CO button" "1" "Extension Number" "Store" or "Program" "CO Button" "2" "9 + Phone Number" "Store". A "9" must be entered at the beginning of a phone number to tell your phone system to seize an outside line before dialing, e.g., "9-1-212-555-1234."

  • 6

Locate the programmable feature buttons (the row of 12 solid buttons on the right). These buttons are basically one-touch buttons that can be set for extension numbers or phone numbers. Press "Program" "(PF) Button" "Extension Number" "Store" or "Program" "(PF) Button" "9 + Phone Number" "Store." Remember to press "Program" again to exit programming.

  • 7

Locate your "FWD/DND" button. This button is used for setting "Call Forward" or "Do Not Disturb" on your telephone. To set call forwarding, go "off-hook" either by lifting the receiver or pressing speakerphone. Make sure you go to intercom and not an outside line. To forward all calls, go off-hook, press "FWD/DND" "1" "extension number" (the extension number that you wish to forward all your calls to) "#". After you hear a confirmation tone, place the receiver on-hook. The steps to set call forwarding for busy/no answer are the same as above, except you will press "2" in place of "1". To cancel call forwarding, press "0" in place of "1".

  • 8

Program "Do Not Disturb," which stops your phone from ringing--any callers will just hear a DND tone. To program, go off-hook, press "Program" "4" "#" on-hook, to set. Press "0" instead of "4" to cancel.

  • 9

Locate the message button--this works in coordination with your message light at the top right of your telephone. If the light is lit, press "message" to hear a message left to you either by another extension or a voice mail system. The message button can only be programmed as a message or one-touch button. To program as a message, press "Program" "Message" "3" "Store." To program as a one-touch, press "Program" "Message" "1" "Extension Number" or "Program" "Message: "2" "9 + phone number."

  • 10

Return your KX-T7730 to its default settings by pressing "Program" "#" "*" "Store."

Can I get replacement phones (3) for Panasonic KX-TG6843B 6.0 3-Handset Cordless Telephone? This phone blocks up to 250 calls. If I keep the base, will I keep my blocked numbers.

The stored block numbers should be saved. The database is in the base's memory. Since the KX-TG6843 base can support a total of 6 KX-TGA680S handsets, you can purchase and register 3 new handsets. If needed, you can de-register the old ones from any working handset and then add even more. See page 35 of the manual, ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/telephone/om/kx-tg6841_mul_om.pdf . Additional handsets are available from Panasonic, http://shop.panasonic.com/support-only/KX-TG6843B.html , Scroll down to the Accessories section and expand it. Amazon.com also has the handsets: https://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-KX-TGA680S-DECT-Accessory-Handset/dp/B00BS4D2CU .

    I hope this helps.

Where can I find a manual for a Panasonic cordless phone & answering machine, Model KX-TG4731B, to download, Free??

The manual for the KX-TG4731B is the same as that for the rest of the KX-TG473x phones. (The B indicates a phone sold with base and 1 handset; other models will have a different number indicating the number of handsets sold with the base.) The manual is on the product support page: http://shop.panasonic.com/support-only/KX-TG4731BDS.html?supportpage=true . The direct link to the manual is ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/telephone/om/kx-tg4731_mul_om.pdf .

    I hope this helps.
