Question about Dryers

1 Answer

My Samsung electric dryer model # dv210aew/xaa runs fine but won't heat and shows an error code of dp16, which we can't find reference to anywhere. We've checked the vents, air flow through the dryer,

Dryer is just over 3 years old. The cooling light is on an the drying light is blinking. The clean vent symbol comes on when the dryer is powered on. Vents are clear

Thank you Joey Bain. There is a problem with the door switch but the dryer wouldn't heat because one of the two fuses it's wired through blew. Replaced the fuse and the dryer works again

SOURCE: Dryer takes too long to dry a load

Have you checked the lint screen? pull the lint screen out and remove the lint then hold flat and pour water on it. Does the screen hold the water or does the water flow through? If it holds water, then you must actually clean the film that has coated the screening material. Use dish soap and scrub lightly then rinse clean. and check again.

SOURCE: no heat from dryer

You have a bad heating element and or a bad high limit switch. Check them for continuity with a volt meter. No continuity, replace the part.

You may have a clogged air vent, check that the air vent hose is not smashed, if it is not smashed, have your dryer vent cleaned professionally, all the way from where the dryer connects to the wall to where the vent leaves the home,
Recheck the dryer operation, dryer vents should be cleaned every other year for optimum performance

Hi,

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have nottaken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then youneed to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should takeplace. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causesfor your dryer to fail.

Check the exhaust vent behind the dryer to make sure it's not kinked.
Take off the dryer vent and run the unit to see if it will dry normally. If it does, you still have a blockage in your exhaust vent in the wall.

if you pull your lint screen out and look down you will see like a metal piece with two screws, this is your sensor, more then likely it has lint/fuzz on it. I would suggest taking the cabinet(dryer) apart and cleaning it with a brush, lightly as not to damage it. Sometime you can get to it with a vacuum but if you are not careful it can be damaged. LG Gas Stacking Dryer

The check filter light comes on every load to remind you to clean the lint filter. Cooling only happens when that light is flashing not when it's on solid. If this is a gas dryer check the exhaust hose and vent on the outside of the house. If it is blocked it will not let the unit get to the correct temp due to cycling.

Clothes are taking 3 cycles to dry and cooling light on front wont shut off

The vent is clogged.  To make sure, disconnect the vent from the dryer and run the dryer normally.  If your clothes dry normally, then have a professional vent cleaning company take care of the vent.
The cooling light will always stay on during the run.  When it is blinking, the heat has stopped and is in the cooling process.
If there is no heating, you have a problem with the high limit switch or something else electrical and needs to be addressed by a qualified LG technician.
