SOURCE: when you first start the blower on choke then you

check carb adjustment screws. Also may have a blocked muffler. There is a spark arrester screen that becomes blocked. Usually 2 screws hold this in place at muffler exhaust, remove screen and use small tourch to burn it clean.

SOURCE: pb-413 blower. starts w choke,

Most likely there's a problem with fuel supply - choking cuts air supply optimizing the air/fuel mix. Most common solution is to check and clean the carburetor.

If there's a tiny fuel filter in the fuel line between tank and carburetor check it on excessive pollution. Replace it when necessary.

When opening the blower for carburetor cleaning - also check the airfilter and replace when dirty.

If never opened the blower - take pictures with a digital camera at each step. The pictures can help with assembly after cleaning.

Why is choke button stuck in the on position and the on/off adjustment lever just runs it until today?

normally on most saws the choke lever is manually set and then stays on till one squeezes the trigger (throttle) then it should pop off and run normally(assuming saw is warmed up enough) if this is not what happens sometimes a outer case interferes with the levers and wont allow for proper movement (shifted), also there's a few springs in there that do all the moving these can pop off there mounts and not allow proper lever moving as well

I need to rev the throttle to prevent the engine from stalling.

Try checking these two things: idle adjustment (usually milled screw on the carburettor) or there could be a problem with the governor - this is usually a plate that is driven by the airflow from the cooling fan, check that this moves freely (usually a shaft from the cooling fan on to the carburettor butterfly valve), if this is not free, then the engine will only run on idle, will not reach running speed, garden debris can cause it to jam...

Engine starts but won't continue to run. Choke doesn't stay closed after starting. will stay running only if I hold choke closed manually.

let it warm up with choke closed manually after it starts to stall with choke closed open it and dont let it stall u can learn to play with the choke a little to get it to run right GOOD LUCK!

Try running some fuel system cleaner through it. A good choice is Chem Tools Berryman B-12. There are some hardworking solvents in the product that could help you overcome a dirty carburetor. Initially use a good, strong dose. Maybe double what they recommend . (1 oz/gallon). If this doesn't work, the carb will probably need to be removed and inspected and cleaned.

Sounds like your throttle cable is out of adjustment (i.e. when you put the carb in choke position is doesn't actually go into choke).
