Question about Mitsubishi WS-55511 55" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

No picture My rear projection tv has worked fine for the five years I have had it. It has onybeen serviced once. Tonight I switched the device from the cable tv input to my gaming input as I have done hundreds of times using the onscreen icons. This time when it switched inputs the picture disappreared. The sound is fine but I get no video. At first I tried to turn the tv off and on and it would not turn off either through the remote or physically at the tv. Then it did and I turned it off and on with no improvement. I can change input although the icins do not come onthe screen and there is no picture whether it is on cable tv or dvd.

This just a hunch, Take the front Speaker Grill off, ( It should just pull off) , Remove the wood access panel and look to see if the is any corrosion and or fluide splashes on any of the boards near the front of the chassi. The Gaskets that seal the ptical grade cooling fliud for the CRT's are common to faile. If this is what has happen you are talking a very major investment to replace the CRTS, and the boards that they leaked on. This fluide is costic and will absorb in the board. Mitsubishi may no longer stock the boards for this. Let's just think possitive
Hope this helps,

MITSUBISHI WS55907 Diamond 1080 TV bought in 2000 was powered off, unplugged, for a year. Turned the set on with remote last night and worked fine, had very crisp picture.

Your TV was waiting between 2000 and now to suffer power supply failure. It is very frustrating to go from everything working perfectly to nothing.

Tv won't turn on

Have a shop look at it, there is a power relay that either is causing this or something right around it is, seen this about five times over the last ten years in Hitachi sets. I had one customer who had it connected to a wall switch and from time to time had to unpower it several times but once on it was fine.....

Problem with sony lcd projection tv kf-60we610 picture color changing

5 Years!!!! Wow...you guys must barely watch any TV for a lamp to last that long. Most people average every 2 Years or so. Just go out and buy a brand new lamp...Approx. $200 plus tax or so. Should solve your problem ;^)

But before you do... just in case... go into your TV Menu and reset your video setting to factory... its very easy to do on screen (no manual required). Cheers!

Projection television acting like an old picture tube TV.

Yes, I used to work in Best Buy and one of the key things about rear projection TVs and the reason they push those service plans on you is that the tubes/colors need to be calibrated each year. You can do this yourself by checking out the following website:

Pioneer SD-532HD5 - Picture Bowed on sides only on 1080I

The problem you are describing is known as a pincushoin problem. I'm a bit surprized that you only see it on the 1080i signal though. I've inquired at my Pioneer contact about this and will update this soon.

Stay tuned...
