Where do I plug in the cable from my Brother DCP130 PRINTER into my PC.

Using both hands, use the plastic tabs on both sides of the machine to lift the scanner cover until it locks securely into the open position.

Insert the USB cable into the USB socket marked with a symbol. You will find the USB socket inside the machine on the right.

Carefully route the USB cable through the trench and out the back of the machine.

Lift the scanner cover to release the lock. Gently push the scanner cover support down and close the scanner cover.

Turn on the machine by connecting the power cord.

Scanner led 110 error code: 217916

the cause is that usb cable supplies power to scanner(there is no power cable) and therefore can not be much long, plug the original cable from scanner directly to USB port in your PC and it will be working correctly. If you use additonal cable to connect scanner to your pc you wil get the error code

When i try scanning ,am being told switch lock has been locked, detach USB then when i click ok an being told twain error has occurred and scanner cable not connected.HOW CAN I SOLVE THAT PROBLEM?

In most scanners, there is a lock (usually on the bottom side) to protect the internal parts while transport.
Detach the USB and power, turn the scanner upside down and unlock the button.
Attach the cables and retry.

Best of luck!

Receiving error code:2,179,12 release the lock switch, detach the usb cable and reconnect.

I suddenly developed the same problem with my LiDE 210 Scanner. Plugging it into a different computer, and the scanner works. Plugged it directly into the original PC and it works. Plugged it back into my USB Hub and the same problem presents itself again. I found my AC powered USB Hub is no longer delivering the required current to the device. Replaced the USB Hub and everything is working fine again.

Errow msg. "release lock switch and detatch the i/f cable" still will not scan.

There is a switch on the underside on the scanner. This is the lock switch. Flipping it should solve your problem.

I am trying to reinstall HP Scanjet 5400c but it keeps telling me it can't initialize, no scanner recognized...WindowsXP.. it worked before, why not now?

I had similar problem with my UMAX scanner on numerous occasions. I now have this pg earmarked for quick reference! may help I don't know for sure but it is an easy test and if it works your good to go!
It is important that you connect the scanner's power and USB cables in the following order:
1. Plug the power adapter cord into the scanner and into an outlet. The scanner's power will then be on.
2. Connect the USB cable to the USB port on the
back or front of the computer.
NOTE: If you unplug the scanner's power ,you must also disconnect the USB cable from the computer. To resume use of the scanner, remove the power card, the the USB cable.

Sounds like a lot but the order is essential!
If it works, High lite Do unplug USB/unplug cable back of scanner/and plug cable back of scanner then USB!
Good Luck Hope this helps!
