How To Repair NTLDR or NTDETECT.COM Not Found

If you get an error that NTLDR is not found during bootup,
If you have FAT32 partitions, it is much simpler than with NTFS.
Just boot with a Win98 floppy and copy the NTLDR or NTDETECT.COM files
from the i386 directory to the root of the C:\ drive.
For NTFS:
  1. Insert and boot from your WindowsXP CD.
  2. At the first R=Repair option, press the R key
  3. Press the number that corresponds to the correct location for the installation of Windows you want to repair.
    Typically this will be #1
  4. Enter in the administrator password when requested
  5. Enter in the following commands (X: is replaced by the actual drive letter that is assigned to the CD ROM drive.
    COPY X:\i386\NTLDR C\:
    COPY X:\i386\NTDETECT.COM C:\
  6. Take out the CD ROM and type exit

I have an Acer Aspire 3630 and when I turn it on, it comes up with a message saying "NTLDR is missing Press any key to restart". Does anyone have any idea of how to fix this, I do not have any CDs etc

It has to do with your operating system. The NT loader file is missing that's why it won't boot. You can download NTLDR or the best way is to reformat you laptop.

When I turn the power on, Says NTLDR is missing?

http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000465.htm

I located a lead on what causes this issue...doesn't sound good. :(

My guess would be that a sector of the hard drive is corrupted (which means it would have to be reformatted...aka "erased"...if it cannot be repaired).

Or the drive has failed...

Either way, hopefully you've been doing regular backups. If you haven't, I can guarantee you will be from now on as I have been in the same situation and know how painful it can be.

Hope this helps, take care.

Ntldr missing error

Ntldr is the Operating System bootup file. To boot into Windows, Ntldr file is must..
IF you have the Operating System disk with you, do the OS repair. This will resolve your problem...............

Sometimes, OS disk might be problematic, in such cases, you need to go with another disk to reload the Operating System.
