If you have the Cables2GO USB to Parallel converter, it is a pain to get working. Go to Radio Shack and buy the GigaWire USB to Parallel.
Then once plugged in, go the printer that will be using the converter. Go to the printer properties, select the PORTS tab. Select the 'VIRTUAL PRINTER PORT FOR USB'. That worked for me!

Have you used EpsonExpert.com yet to find the solution?
Go there (it's an Epson site) and set up a free user account.
From what I'm reading, it has to do with using Windows drivers slowing the response and printing. There are drivers on Epson Expert which should solve your issue.

I have the same problem...Epson does not work with a parallel to usb cable or adapter. If you still want to use this printer you will have to use the parallel port or change the interface on the printer to USB.

Ignore the message to install the Epson TM-2.01 and proceed to install the correct driver for your Epson T88III.
Just set up or add the correct printer driver and make you choose USB port connection not parallel port. Then try to print the test paper and if prints, then you are properly configure your printer.
If not, you have to configure the correct driver and the correct PORT connection to your printer.

Are you using a third party USB adapter or a USB interface? On the self test page that you printed does it say USB connection or something that will say about USB? or does it say parallel or serial connection? try to check the dip switches setting if its configured properly. visit epsonexperts.com site for more info.
