Huskee tiller will run but cut off after a minute-could be the governor

We have cleaned the carbuerator twice and cleaned out all the fuel lines and the filter. We think that it might be something to do with the governor. The tiller will start and run for a few minutes, but will then die out as if it is not getting gas. When you engage the tines, it cuts out. We have cleaned out the air filter, changed the gas, correctly gapped the spark plug, and are now out of ideas.

SOURCE: Tiller won't stay running

Hmmmm.....it sounds like restricted fuel flow to me, but explain "rebuilt the carb" so I can get an idea on what you did.

Though it sounds right off like you whooped it good and got the basics.

Right off, go back through the "system", check the fuel flow, check that spark on the plug. Eyeball for any loose wires (E.G., Kill Switch, etc.) that are grounding (you never know!)

Stick to KISS on this one, since it ran before the carb got bad and got rebuilt, it will be one of those things you replaced, rebuilt, or changed. Sometimes, it is the SMALLEST thing......

SOURCE: i have a 2003 huskee rear tine 5.0 when i spray

Did you clean out all of the tiny holes in the main jet of the carburetor? I assume you also put fresh fuel in it as well. One other thing, a compression leak (loose spark plug, bad head gasket) can make it act like it's starving for fuel. Good luck. I'd still place my bet on the carb having one or two holes plugged in the main jet.

I have a huskee rototiller that dies when you engage the tiller

HAs it sat for a long time without being used? Sounds like the governor on the carburetor might be sticking. Means when you put a load on the engine the carburetor supposed to increase if you flew in if you've let it sit for quite a while, who might be going to need a good cleaning

clean and lube around butterfly arm and "windvane' under engine cover.most governors are controled by air coming off finns on flywheel also check to see if you have return spring broken or missing

My push mower has a 6.5 B&S and will only run if you keep pumping the primer i already disassembled the carb and cleaned the jet also checked bowl float all ok

eeeeerrrrrrr, breaks and scrap it...lol
well you saying that it stays running only while pumping the primer tells me that it is running lean(carb needs adjusting), it maybe the fuel line is plugged not allowing enough fuel to flow.

The engine stops after fuel in carbuerator is depleted.

Trace the fuel line from carb to tank,if it has a shutoff it will be there.

check the fuek lines for hole and leaks, check the fuel filter and clean if necessary. remove the carbuerator and inspect the gasket; it should be soft and flexible, if it seems hard or brittle replace it. clean the carb with carb cleaner sray (available at any local auto parts store) and compressed air. make sure you get inside the small fuel rail holes. check the primer bulb for pin holes and seating/sealed properly. if that doesn't work have the carb repaired at a service center or replaced.
