Question about Mtd Products Yard Machines 158CC Tiller
We have cleaned the carbuerator twice and cleaned out all the fuel lines and the filter. We think that it might be something to do with the governor. The tiller will start and run for a few minutes, but will then die out as if it is not getting gas. When you engage the tines, it cuts out. We have cleaned out the air filter, changed the gas, correctly gapped the spark plug, and are now out of ideas.

Hmmmm.....it sounds like restricted fuel flow to me, but explain "rebuilt the carb" so I can get an idea on what you did.
Though it sounds right off like you whooped it good and got the basics.
Right off, go back through the "system", check the fuel flow, check that spark on the plug. Eyeball for any loose wires (E.G., Kill Switch, etc.) that are grounding (you never know!)
Stick to KISS on this one, since it ran before the carb got bad and got rebuilt, it will be one of those things you replaced, rebuilt, or changed. Sometimes, it is the SMALLEST thing......

Did you clean out all of the tiny holes in the main jet of the carburetor? I assume you also put fresh fuel in it as well. One other thing, a compression leak (loose spark plug, bad head gasket) can make it act like it's starving for fuel. Good luck. I'd still place my bet on the carb having one or two holes plugged in the main jet.
