Question about Brother HL2280DW: HL-2280DW Wireless Laser Printer
This printer won't register that I have replaced the toner cartridge and keeps giving me the error message

Just do a manual reset:-
Open the front cover of the printer
Press and release the "clear" key
Press "start", then press the up arrow until you see the number 12 on the display
Press "ok", you will see "accepted" on the display
Close the front cover, your toner cartridge should now work.
Original Brother tonor cartidges should reset automatically.

There could be a number of causes for the problems your describing, but one of the most common causes of discoloration and issues with toner is a faulty ribbon sensor. A broken sensor will be unable to accurately read the ribbon and apply the correct color. I hope this helps
