Question about Chef's Choice 677 Cordless Electric Kettle

Stopped Working! We love our kettle, but today it stopped working.  The power light at the base is operating and on.  However, it will not get hot, not even warm.  Is it a blown fuse somewhere?

We have the same problem. Light is on but it doesn't heat. I've made sure it wasn't wet and I've made sure other appliances work when plugged into the same outlet even though I knew that couldn't be the problem, as it does light up.

Same issue. No warning, just won't heat water after the last time it did yesterday AM.

Have had same problem several times. My fix was to remove the five screws on the underside of the pot and lube all the plastic linkage with WD-40. Apparently the linkage gets a bit warped with heat. The pot lasted about five years and today the switch contacts melted inside. I doubt that parts are available, so...

Thanks to 151mph, I fixed mine too. The plastic linkage he speaks about are these little removable contacts that connect the power from place to place. You just pull them off, spray some WD40 on the metal contact underneath, put the linkage (for lack of a better term) back on, screw the bottom plate back on, boil some water, have some tea, and call it a job well done.

I was stunned to discover that this trick worked for me, also! Never would have guessed it in a zillion years; I figured the element was bad and I'd have to get a new one. Tried Google, got here, spent 3 minutes with a screwdriver and WD-40, and voila!! Amazing. Thank you all for sharing.

Quisnart sells the whole base for $22, but I have not been able to find the little round switch though. If you want to buy the whole base, call quisinart at 1-800-726-0190

My Hamilton beach 40996 kettle Suddenly it stopped boiling. The on button lights up and reads temp but never boils. It worked and then suddenly stopped. Any chance this is a program problem somehow?

What a crazy over-complicated kettle!
Disc element kettles do tend to have a limited life that is a small fraction of the lifespan of standard kettle elements. The ones I have had usually only last until the guarantee has expired. To discover whether it is the kettle or the base it will be necessary to use a multimeter to check the supply from the base.

Mt HB kettle 40886 has stopped working. The switch moves into place, but doesn't light up or heat up the water. Can I fix this?

Whats very common on cordless kettles is the contacts inside the base get badly caboned up, You can fix it by opening up the base, and cleaning the three contacts with a disposable nail fie. Then re-assemble and it should be fine. If you can get at it, the ring and the center contact in the bottom of the kettle can also be cleaned with the file.

Hoy can I repair the light on a Kettle they have stopped working

These are factory sealed and for the sake of a new kettle you could end up electrocuting yourself, or an innocent user. If you try to fix it yourself. REMEMBER water and electric are lethal combination, when messed with.

I have a Cuisinart CPK17 won't heat water and all the blue lights are flashing

I had the same issue with all lights blinking, but nothing else working (buttons would not respond or beep). I took the base off and used a small pair of pliers to bend the contact as Scott Cowen mentioned. Worked like a charm.

"On" switch blinks, kettle won't heat

In case you are still watching this issue for a solution - I'm afraid my assessment of the company troubleshooting support and of this particular issue is that we are out of luck.
I have the same problem. Have downloaded manuals - very little information except for use...ie, don't get them wet.
I have contacted the company - they asked me for the same information I gave them in the original troubleshooting request...
We bought a new one - fortunately on sale at Target. The blinking light is the normal indication - lack of heat and boiling is the problem.
Our new pot boils on both bases...old pot clicks and then just sits there with a blinking light - the light should blink until the temp is reached.

I intend to return the old pot to Target and move on....I suspect there is a burned out coil but, it is too hard to troubleshoot and won't be able to be fixed.

I suspect that a better (more expensive) pot might have more durable coils...but, we'll see how long the new one lasts.

My kettle suddenly stopped working, it still shows a red light when you go to boil the water but the water does not boil. its only a few months old so what would cause this problem

sounds as if you have a lose wire in the base or else you element has failed. Undo the bottom of the kettle and check all wires are connected to the element. If all the wires are connect i would say your element has blown.

Router stopped working altogether

You can try doing a master reset. (must refer to owners manual on how to) or replace the entire unit. Most likely the unit has failed.

Red light's on... but no hot water!

OK, inside the unit there are three items, the heating element, thermostat, and thermal fuse. What has happened is the element got too hot and the thermal fuse opened. There is no reset button. In some cases you may run across a defective heating element or thermostat but its not common. The fix would probably be replacement of the thermostat and thermal fuse. For this, you would have to contact a small appliance repair center in your area.
