SOURCE: ads keep popping up when

Hello there.

Virus and spyware problems are very popular unfortunately, most tools are unable to find and repair all problems, so its best to try alternative methods to remove the most stubbern infections.

I suggest using an online scanner, something like http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/tools/security_tools/housecall . Open this address and click "Launch Housecall free scan". This will download the files needed through your web browser and run a scan without actually installing the antivirus package in windows. It wont interfere with existing antivirus / antispyware software.

If you cannot remove all infections, then please show us a screenshot or a list of the infections from the scan end page and we will assist.

Hope this helps.

Popup ads can appear for several reasons. If you are overloaded, chances are you have malware. Use an anti malware program like Malwarebytes anti malware to remove malware.

Then use firefox browser with adblock plus extension installed to avoid new ads.

Compatibility problem?

What does it say ?
are you on the internet when it pops up ?
Internet pop-ups can be an annoyance.
These windows are usually associated with different forms of advertisements and at times can include viruses that can infect the computer.
Pop-ups do not have to be a part of computer use if the user does not desire this distraction. There are ways to stop pop-ups and prevent them from appearing unless desired.
Pop-up blocker allows the user to block these items and select which items to allow. Open Internet Explorer.
Click "Tools" from the menu bar. Tools can be found on the bar that lists "File, Edit, View, Favorites, Tools, Help" directly beneath the address bar.
Click "Internet Options" from the "Tools" menu.
Click the "Privacy" tab in the "Internet Options" box.
Click to check the box that says "Turn on pop-up blocker" in the "Pop-up Blocker" section of the menu.
Click "Apply" to save changes.
Click "OK" to close the "Internet Options" box.
The computer will now block all pop-ups from websites.
If downloading items from the Web, the computer will ask whether you would like to allow these items to be opened.
IE: 8 right click in the top toolbar select the command bar this will add it to the toolbar then on the far right hand side select the tools then from the drop down list pop up blocker make sure its turned on and settings

hope this helps
It's easy to learn how to stop pop ups, and you don't need to download pop up blocking software to get rid of those annoying ads. Just try these easy fixes before downloading a pop up blocker.
The first three methods assume you can use the software you already have. It's quick and simple, and you won't need any add-ons with these methods.
It takes only a few minutes to stop pop ups yourself, even if you are not technically oriented. If Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) or Mozilla Firefox on a Windows Vista computer but these steps should work for any Windows compatible computer (although it may vary some if you have a different version of IE).
Here are four easy and quick ways to stop pop ups on your computer. You can use any one (or more) of these methods to get rid of those pesky pop up ads within minutes.
How to Stop Pop Ups - Method #1: Use Your Settings on Internet Explorer 7
Step 1: On Internet Explorer 7, go to "Tools", then "Internet Options"
Step 2: Click on the "Privacy" tab
Step 3: On the bottom, under "Pop-up Blocker", click the checkbox to "Turn on Pop-up Blocker". Click "Ok".
How to Stop Pop Ups - Method #2: Use a Different Internet Browser (Firefox)
Try using Mozilla Firefox instead of IE because Firefox automatically blocks pop up windows (unlike Explorer). You can download Firefox at http://mozilla.current-version.com.
How to Stop Pop Ups - Method #3: Use Your Web Toolbar
You may already have the google or MSN toolbar installed on your browser. If you try this approach, you may also want to read my articles on how to stop pop ups with your Google toolbar and MSN toolbar.
How to Stop Pop Ups - Method #4: Download a Paid or Free Pop Up Blocker
If you've tried the above steps, and you're still having issues, then you should consider downloading a pop up blocker program.
Two reliable free pop up blockers include the Google toolbar and MSN toolbar. Another popular paid pop up blocker is at http://ivyliu.com/panicware.htm.
For everyday pop up blockers, the above methods should work. However, if you've tried all of these suggestions and you're still having problems with persistent pop-ups, then it's likely that you have been infected with spyware.
Summary of How to Stop Pop Ups
First, try changing your IE browser settings to block pop ups. If you have Google toolbar or MSN toolbar installed, then you already have a pop up blocker installed along with it. Try using the toolbars, or try switching to the Firefox browser.
Finally, you can also download a pop up blocker (free or paid). It's easy to stop pop ups without having to download pop up blockers.
If these steps do not remove your pop ups, then you may want to download a free or paid pop up blocker.
If that fails, then you probably are infected with spyware, which must be removed in order to get rid of ad pop ups.
But the above four methods should work to stop most pop up windows.

You launch your Web browser, but your homepage has changed. You type in a Web address, but the browser sends you to a site you\'re never heard of. Whenever you try to go to a new destination, it sends you right back, sometimes covering your screen in pop-up ads. If this sounds familiar, you\'ve got a serious problem on your hands. It\'s called browser hijacking, and it\'s something you need to fix right away. What is a Browser Hijacker? b> A browser hijacker is a type of computer virus that targets your Web browser. Some hijacking programs try to make you click on bogus pop-up ads that spawn incessantly. Others are purely malicious, designed only to cause trouble. Infected browsers sometimes redirect you to pornographic websites, while others may take you to fake search engines. Even if a site looks legitimate, if you didn\'t tell your browser to go there, don\'t click on anything. b> How Did I Get Hijacked? b> Browser hijackers disguise themselves in various ways. Pop-up ads are a common infection point for browser hijackers, which is why virtually all Web browsers come with aggressive pop-up blocking protection. Ads promising free electronics or large cash prizes are common sources of browser hijackers as well. Some hijackers hitch a ride on bogus software downloads or hyperlinks. In the future, don\'t download files from unknown sources, and don\'t click on any ads that sound too good to be true. Fake Security Software b> If your browser issues are accompanied by security pop-ups from a desktop security program, be careful. Some current browser hijackers masquerade as security software, as well as infecting your browser. These programs are particularly dangerous, as they often camouflage themselves to look like a legitimate software program. Use your common sense before clicking on a security alert. If the security program is not one that you have installed or that you have ever seen before, or if there are spelling errors within the alert, don\'t touch it. b> How To Get Rid of a Hijacker b> Browser hijackers can usually be sorted out by running a full system scan with your anti-virus software. Make sure that your anti-virus software is up to date before running your scan. Even after the virus is removed, you may need to reset some of your browser settings, particularly your homepage. If the browser hijacker made a mess of your settings, it may be faster for you to perform a clean reinstall of your browser software.
