SOURCE: needle wont go up and down.

well,it seem that your upper camshaft was stuck due to several factor on mechanical linkages and maybe on gears. You have to isolate the checking since you have clean lower bobbins free from dirt and thread/fabrics chips. If there an opening on top of machine open it to check some mechanical destorsion or breakage.Check some broken gears inside. If nothing try to open also at the bottom of machine cover and there are also belt and gears connected to the motors and bobbins shuttle holder if so oil all shafting oil port, oil port bushing specially on bushing near hand wheel there is port for oil,
check also motor assembly of machine, you can disconnect belt from motor release the bolt holding motor adjust to lower tension belt and release the belt.Take some tools such as monkey pliers or small pipe wrench that can hold hand wheel just crack in order to move suddenly after oiling for several hours sometime bushing and shafting rushes emerged or if you have anti rush spray put in on.After cracking and you can move a little crack only by your hand several time lleft and right until all linkages free from rush.If you can move all parts and hand wheel rotate freely.Check also motor by rotating the small pulley conncted to motor if free to move.if ok put back and reassembly all parts disconnected.try to move again by hand if free to move after all asssembly.Run machine using foot pedal.

SOURCE: I have a Janome 6260. My machine sewed great, but

I've had the Lo come on my screen of my sewing machine also, but normally when I turned it off it corrected the jam up.
Lo- A button is pressed when the machine halts due to a overload
wait 15 seconds to recover
if thread jamming causes the overload, remove the tangled thread
check the bobbin area for lint & loose threads
also check to see if the bobbin is warped
check you needle to see if it's bent-roll on a flat surface to see if it rolls correctly
if it's blunt it makes a popping sound when going thru fabric
let me know if these suggestions help

remove the cover over the bobbin section so that you can see the needle bobbin carrier interaction
now turn the machine over by hand and watch the needle go down and start to come up
at this point the hook of the bobbin carrier should be very close to the needle just above the eye of the needle
It is at this point the the needle thread is picked up and run around the bobbin carrier to link up with the bobbin thread
if it is not there then take it in for an adjustment as the adjustment is done by loosening off the clamp on the vertical bar at the end of the machine that moves the needle up and down and positioning the needle in the position described
if the needle is hitting the bobbin and the timing is correct , replace the needle as it may be bent or not in properly

Machine does not appear to have a button to sew in reverse

try these suggestions
Reduce the stitch length to zero. The machine will stitch in place and form a locked stitch
1) rotate the material and sew over the same stitching. Leave the needle down in the work and raise the presser foot, then turn the fabric around.
2) decrease the stitch length to very small for a few stitches

OR
3) hold the fabric and prevent it from feeding at the beginning and end of a seam, which makes very short stitches

4) stitch about 1/2", raise the needle and presser foot, return the fabric to the beginning position and stitch over the first half inch of seam again. Do the same at the end

I can get to the adjustment mode on my singer quantum XL 1000, but how do I use it? The numbers 8 and 9 show below the numerical touch pad.

I sounds to me like instead of an adjustment, your machine has been set to end with the needle down instead of up. You need to get the user's manual for it; I'm almost sure that you can program the needle behavior at the end of a seam or color block. Just go to the Singer site--it'a free download, if you don't have one.

Auto Needle Threader Won't Come Down

If it's still in warranty, send it in for repair. If it's not still in warranty, pull out a length of top thread and clip off the end with sharp scissors at an angle. Poke the end of the thread through the needle eye -- it should go through easily. Two second solution.

The thread in the bobin isn't comming up too the needle. I have removed the face plate and cleaned it out, but it still isn't working. What could this be?

Make sure the needle is facing in the correct direction
Put the bobbin in the bobbin case leaving a
2 to 3 tail.
Thread the top of the machine correctly, leaving a 3 to 4 inch
tail after threading the needle.
Hang on to the end of the upper thread and use the handwheel to drop the needle.
continue to turn the handwheel to raise the needle. Pull on the end of the needle thread and a loop of bobbin thread should come up.
make sure there is no lint or loose thread in the bobbin area

Kenmore 158.1703 sewing machine - needle not going up and down

When you press the pad, the needle did not up and down. but the motor is running.

Your machine is in 'bobbin fill mode' - the needle mechanism is deactivated for safety when using the machine to fill a bobbin.
Turn the centre section of the handwheel on the right hand end of the machine clockwise whilst holding the outer section in place. You should feel it tighten. When it is fully tightened, both the centre and outer sections should rotate together when either the pedal is pressed or the wheel is turned by hand. The needle will be going up and down again now.
Hope that helps!
