1. Is the memory card origina? What's the capacity?
If the capacity of card exceed the limitedness, the phone will not read it. Pls check your memory card.
2. Try to wipe the card with an eraser.
3. NOTE:Pls do not use the memory card when the battery is running down.
For that: The memory card was in use by the phone's media player when the battery died. This caused the memory card to be locked in a session that didn't exist anymore, which caused the phone to ignore the card.
You may put the card into another phone, and it turned out the entire card was corrupt. You have to format it and it may work again.

Ofcourse, you have to sync all your files again....

Your card may need to be formatted for use in the phone. The phone supports FAT32 file system go to Menu - Tools/Setting - MemoryCard - Options - Format Mem Card and click YES

WARNING: Back up you card on your computer first because formatting you will lose your contents

it has to do with possibly the card is not formatted to work in you phone.

your card reader works because it will read the format of the card and your phone won't.

Take all the files and copy them to your computer and format the card in your phone. Then transfer your files to your phone with activsync or nokia phone tools or whatever you use.

N70 memory card problem

if you have a memory card reader then I would make sure that the copper strips are cleaned and that its seated firmly and also if you try the memory card reader on a different usb port.

If its an internal one then maybe get an external memory card reader and see if that helps as the internal memory card reader may not be working - to check if its working or not I would right click on my computer --> manage --> disk management and see if it has any drive letter assigned to the memory card - if not right click on it and assign it a drive letter.

Also you can get a utility called USBDLM here

http://www.uwe-sieber.de/usbdlm_e.html

which should help you assign the same drive letter to each memory card whenever you insert it into your computer ( read the read me file for how to set this up which will require altering the inf file in the usbdlm directory )

N70 - after software update memory card is locked

The default security code for Nokia is 12345.

You can recover the password for MMC card. The best way is to download a file manager to your phone. I use Best Fileman for my N70, from http://www.smartphoneware.com/ It’s for series 60and 40. The trial version should be enough, it’s only £5.60 anyway.
In the file manager (when installed on your phone) you’ll find under- C:\System\mmcstore -the file you’re looking for, you have to rename the file- mmcstore.txt -then send it to another mobile (best way) or your PC via Bluetooth or USB, open it on the other phone or PC, and your password will be revealed.
Rename that file- mmcstore.txt -to just- mmcstore -there might be another file named- mmcstore.txt -to view your password rename one or the other- mmcstore1.txt -one is for your phone PIN number the other your MMC card.
Clear enough?

Nokia N70 wont acknowledge memory card?

Note: This device uses a Reduced Size Dual Voltage
(1.8/3V) MultiMediaCard (RS-MMC). To ensure
interoperability, use only dual voltage RS-MMCs. Check
the compatibility of an RS-MMC with its manufacturer or
provider.
Use only compatible Reduced Size MultiMediaCards
(RS-MMC) with this device. Other memory cards, such as
Secure Digital (SD) cards, do not fit in the memory card
slot and are not compatible with this device. Using an
incompatible memory card may damage the memory card
as well as the device, and data stored on the incompatible
card may be corrupted.

You cannot use the memory
card if the door of the
memory card slot is open.

Format a memory card
When a memory card is reformatted, all data on the card
is permanently lost.
Some memory cards are supplied preformatted and others
require formatting. Consult your retailer to find out if you
must format the memory card before you can use it.
To format a memory card, select Options > Format mem.
card
. Select Yes to confirm. When formatting is complete,
enter a name for the memory card, and select OK.
