SOURCE: change oil in riding lawn mower

look at the side of the engine down low. There should be a pipe plug screwed in that has a square head. Put a drain pan under the area and remove this plug and the oil will drain out. It's best if the engine is warm. You should get 1 1/2 quarts of oil out of it. Let it drain for about 5 minutes and then re-install the pipe plug. Add 1 1/2 quarts of 30W oil and then cut the grass !

SOURCE: how to reset oil change indicator on my husqvarna

depends on how old the mower is, for the past 3-4 years, Husqvarna made it so that you have to replace the unit, unable to just reset it.

SOURCE: Husqvarna riding mower w/20 hp

Hi.

There is gas smell in the carburetor because the engine is not starting and carburetor is flooding.

As first thing ensure that there is spark, pull the spark plug wire and put the end near to engine block while cranking. You will see the spark. If there is no spark, check distribution coil and wires.

If there is spark, check if there is fuel pressure, if there is smell from carb, then the fuel pressure should be Ok.
Once you are sure that the pump is doing its job, and that there is pressure, check the carburetor settings. The mixture is probably too rich or too lean, and for that reason it is not igniting.
If it is not a matter of carburetor settings, then the carb must be taken apart to check carburetor filter.

SOURCE: I own a Husqvarna 54"

Depens wheather its a Tuff Torque unit or a Hydro gear unit, the Tuff Torque unit has the bypass lever on the top of the box, it will normally have a rod connected to it back through the back plate, it is usually bronze in colour, the Hydro Gear box has the bypass arm on the side next to the externall brake caliper

Husqvarna YTH 180 transaxle fluid

If it is not leaking there should be no need to add oil, if it does not have an external resivoir you would fill throught the filler and leave a 1/4" air gap to allow for expansion.

Tractor moves fine when cool but after using for a while transaxle barely moves I have a Husqvarna YTH 150

This is the sign of worn internal components, as the unit heats up so the oil gets thinner and leaks internaly, this is a rebuild or new transaxle, you could try changing the oil but this does not always help, and if it does it is usualy short term.

I have a Husqvarna 42"

You should have the Oil & filter changed per this manual:

http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/owner_manuals/10223/CRAFTSMAN-Lawn-Tractor-L0304249?

To make sure you have the correct manual go to this link and enter your model number:
http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/owner_manuals

I tried this model number and it did not work: 960.50002 I think you are close though.

Make sure that it is warm if you can before changing oil. One Procedure calls for removing the transaxle to change oil... It takes 80 oz of 20-50W oil. It is important to FLUSH the transaxle if you are experiencing problems. There is a product caled engine Flush that you can purchase to flush the transaxle.

Mose transaxles that experience motion problems are caused by contaminated oil. Flush.. flush... flush.., then wait for it to drain out... and then finally re-service with 20-50W oil.

Change the Filter too.. if your unit has one. All of them have the internal metal mesh screen which is why it is so important to flush out the debris.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

No manual for Husquvarna ride on mower model 4140H

Don't know if this helps but the owners manual for my Husq YTH2148
indicates that the transmission fluid is not to be changed, ever. If there is a problem, the whole unit is to be replaced.

These mowers, along with many craftsman rider mowers, are actually made by Roper. Perhaps if you googled around a bit you could get more info relating to service of the transaxle.

Husqvarna, GTH2454T Hydrostatic power loss.

It sounds like the oil in transaxle is degraded. The transaxle is supposed to be a sealed unit requiring no service but over time the oil will get dirty enough to cause problems like you are describing.Remove the back hitch plate and look at the transaxle it will have a rubber vent hose or a 1/4 alllen wrench fitting on top. You will need to purchase a battery suction bulb from sears automotive and use it to remove as much oil from transaxle as possible. Warm the transaxle up first by running it around, then suction the oil out.Refill with a good synthetic motor oil 15w-50 or 20w-50 like Amsoil or Mobil 1.Do not use transmission fluid or hydraulic fluid. When adding the new oil back fill it to within 1.5 in from the top,be sure to allow this amount of air space in top of transaxle for expansion.

My Husqvarna hyrdrostatic transmission is sealed, and yours may very well be also. That means no changing the fluid.
