SOURCE: Dies when clutch disengaged

It sounds like the seat switch is disconnected or failed. Check it out. If it thinks there is no **** on the seat it will cause your symptoms.

SOURCE: john deere gt 235 electric blade engagment but

One of two possible causes;either the PTO switch is defective or the switch for the reverse peddle is out of adjustment .The only other thing i have seen cause the PTO to shut down is a lack of battery power due to the machine not charging.

Why does engine die when brake is released? on a john deere riding mower

is your engine revved up when engaging the blades or releasing the brake if so i would start with the fuel filter spark plug and make sure your fuel is no more then a couple months old after that the ethanol will separate from the gasoline and cause nightmares try running a bottle of B12 chemtool carb cleaner it has done wonders for me personally both cars and small equipment

Maybe the travel speed is too high for it or the fusible link in starting circuit is blown.Check and adjust timing belt tension if necessary.Visit john deere expert or dealer.

I have a John Deere 355d lawn tractor. Every time I engage blade or release brakes the mower dies out. Checked safety seat switch and its not that.

Try pulling up on your PTO switch to engage the RIO switch. If it works then there is a problem with the reverse switch is located near the directional pedals/linkage or on the transmission. Attached is a picture of the switch from the John Deere parts catalog and a wiring diagram.

My 318 John Deere mower blades would not turnoff. The switch would not move. Even when I got off the seat the mower blades continued. I turned the motor off and now it won't start. Any idea?

Faulty attachmentment switch, replace it as it is sending a signal that it is engaged to your starter circuit, that is why it wont start.
It is also faulty as it wont engage the attachment (mower cutting deck)
