Its probably electrical interference. You are better off replacing it, or borrowing a friends sub and hooking it up. Just to make sure it's not your reciever or any wiring.

My 2004 impala will start and then not start in no apparant reason. has done this more frequently lately

If you mean that it will not turn over all the time, it could be the starter solenoid or a bad electrical connection to the solenoid. This could be an intermittent problen until it goes altogether.

Your receiver is HDMI version 1.1,1.2 or 1.2a and just don't work with anything to be honest with you. It's an HDCP (copyright Issue) and 5v pass thru issue. and the list goes on. If you can, just run HDMI directly to the TV and optical or Digital Coaxial to your receiver for audio and all will be well again. If you need more help, just post a comment and I will gladly help some more

Over heating

In general I know of no reason per se to replace the thermostat and temp sensor because you replaced the radiator fan. If the temp gauge seems to be staying in the 1/3-2/3 of full scale, and there is no apparent engine control issues as the engine warms from cold to operating temperature then there is no obvious reason to replace those items. Other than fan motor failure is there any reason for you to believe these other parts are at fault? You can get a free fault code readout at an Autozone parts store which would highlight a temp sensor problem, but there is no fault code for the thermostat except maybe the one for engine running cold for too long a time after start up. You could also check the resistance of the temp sensor which should run around 10-14,000 ohms when cold and drop to 700-1,000 ohms when warmed up.
I don't know about the issue of replacing the thermostat because I don't know which engine you are working with. So let me know an

Display stopped working

My Alpine CDA-7842 works fine from a functional point of view but the display (readout) had stopped working. All the lights on the display work but the actual readout is blank. At first the readout would intermittently work now it's completely dead. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

thanks
