Question about Dirt Devil Vacuums
I was vacuuming with my new Dirt Devil for the 3rd time, when all of a sudden, it just stops, it was if I had unplugged it, or clicked it off, the area that I have used it on the other 2 times is only about a 10x14 the same area I was vacuuming today. can someone help me figure out what's wrong with it thank you, Laura
Filters can clog quickly or you may have a clog somewhere which will reduce airflow causing the motor to overheat and shut off. It will come back on after it cools down. If that is the problem you may need to clean or replace the filters. If that does not solve it I would take it to a Royal warranty repair shop.

You didn't say how it runs before going off. You could have a clog in the hose or dirt inlet by the brush roll. There is a thermo protector on one leg of the wire going to the motor, if it is bad, it could be sensing the motor getting hot and casuing a shut down. Could be just a bad connection somewhere and vibrations casuing it to loose contact. Could also be a problem with the motor.
