Why does my nelsonic nlc690 am/fm alarm clock radio display 18:88 and not allow me to set the time?

Sounds like it is broken!

Unplug it and remove the backup battery if it has one. Count to 10 and put the battery back in and plug back in.

If that doesn't work, just buy another one as they are cheap enough!

The display is suddenly filled with information (sometimes unreadable). Everything has now stopped working.

From the sounds of it the microprocessor is scrambled, this can be caused by a power surge or thunderstorm, unplug unit, press and hold power button for 60 seconds in an attempt to clear the processor, if this fails this will be a job for a Bose factory trained technician.

After a power outage of approximately 45 minutes i have no display

Hello
There is a Lithium battery inside your clock to get a backup even the power is interrupted for a long time. This battery may last up to 3 years eventhough there is no power to the device. If this has gone weak, the backup fucntion will not be. so check this battery.
Just reset the device. It will make it work properly. To reset the clock after total memory loss; do the folloing.

[1] Connect the radio to your AC outlet and let the clock set itself.

[2] Depress the MONTH/DATE and TIME buttons together. The display will change
from 'Time'to 'Year'

While holding the MONTH/DATE and TIME buttons, press the SET + button
to set the display to the correct Year, then release the buttons
OK.

My Philips AJ3980 radio suddenly has no sound. Also, the band "MW" appears in the display and I'm unable to tune AM stations. The clock seems okay. Thanks for your help!

1. Press the RADIO button to switch on the radio.
- Radio touch screen controls appears throughout
radio operation
- The radio frequency and waveband appears in the
display for 10 seconds before reverting back to the
clock display.
2. Press the BAND button to select your waveband FM/AM.
3. Tune to your station manually or automatically
by using up / down.

Here is a figure to help find the control buttons:

Which the voltage of the transformer to be replaced

Hello
Your clock has a backup battery. Battery is for time backup only.

The clock and alarm memory will

be retained during a power

interruption. During battery

backup operation, the display

will not light up, but the correct
time will be maintained internally
The mains transformer inside it will be of 10.2vAC secondary to 120VAC primary. OK.

Radio worked fine......then I was trying to find another channel by turning the tuner knob and all of a sudden it just locked and when I turn the tuner knob it won't change stations. Nothing works but the...

This may help: If you take off the front of the radio (don't forget 2 screws in back!) you will notice a set of black and red wires running from the 2 AA backup batteries to the digital display circuit board. The wires plug into the board with a little white plug. If you unplug this the display will fade to nothing. If you plug it back in it will display an unset digital clock format. This seems to reset the radio, after which it should work.

My Coby CRA108 starting doing this after 6 months of use. Although I described the display as 1P:C8 since there is no key to properly display the character (hybrid of a G & C). I've left it unplugged and changed the backup battery with hopes it would reset. No luck so far. Anyone have success???

My dewalt stopped giving any sound

Try this if the display seems stuck on the same station: If you take off the front of the radio (don't forget 2 screws in back!) you will notice a set of black and red wires running from the 2 AA backup batteries to the digital display circuit board. The wires plug into the board with a little white plug. If you unplug this the display will fade to nothing. If you plug it back in it will display an unset digital clock format. Insignia clock radio goes to 12:00 after turning off power

I found this solution by reading some reviews. A reviewer said it was caused by a weak backup battery that powers the display. He said to change the lithium backup battery of the main unit with the backup battery in the remote. I tried it and now it works. I can turn the unit on and off and it doesn't reset my memory. But this hasn't solved my problem with setting the alarm.
