The red LED chip has burned out. Samsung purposely overdrives the red LED to make the colors look better and the red one usually fails from heat.

More than likely your red led is bad I have this model and I have had to replace it twice in the last four years the part is available online and is fairly easy and quick to replace if you are handy with a screwdriver the actual procedure is available in a video on YouTube for replacing it.

HL-t6187s control problems

Check with Samsung, your model falls under a class action settlement related to power supply issues that your TV may be experiencing. Here is a link to more information about this settlement.

Samsung HL-T6187S SOUND DROPPING TO 0? By itself

If you can get at the controls again----undo or unsolder the micro switch for volume down! Remove it and see if set works.

A no brainer in that if that switch is bad and vol down still displays nothing else would work

I have a SAMSUM HL-T6187SA DLP LED 1080P. The problems I see are a Green Tint and the RED(s) display as Blue(ish). John

Hi,

It sound likes the problem of your unit is the light engine. This is very common problem on Samsung DLP TV's and tons of complaint regarding on the picture quality. If you search "Samsung DLP law suit" you will find various comment regarding on the issue.

This part is an expensive one and I would advice you to call Samsung service department (1-800-726-7864) to let it diagnose by their Technician and see if they would cover the parts.

Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

He is talking about the HLT6187SAX/XAA which is an LED model not the HL-T6187S model which has a lamp unless he gave the wrong model number in the original post.

Model is HL-T6187SA. Lost the red color in the

You have a bad control board. www.partstore.com can probably supply the board. If you are good with a screwdriver and patient it should be a straight forward swap and you will be back in business. Total cost between $130 and $200 depending on the complexity of the board. Let me know how this works out.

TV GOES RED

From my quick research of this model its a Rear projection unit. And 1st I would suggest try the color and temp settings in the tv menus. If this does not correct the situation, It will most likely be a control board failing. unless you are experanced in high voltages and tv's I would suggest taking it to a shop or call and see which shop will come out and give a free estimate. this may or may not be worth repair costs. also keep in mind, with repairs that problem may be fixed but you never know whats to go next. and when a repair is done most shops will warranty what they worked on and not the unit as a whole. Best of luck and hope this guides you well..
