The "in use" light do not come on, when we use the drive to boot our precious computer. Was to that the drives are bad. Replacement drives make more sense.
Sure.. buy another one.. it is just a flopppy drive. Check it on another computer though to be sure it is not a cable issue or power cable issue.. floppies are everywhere cheap.

Go to any computer-store, with your current floppy-drive,
and ask them to sell you a compatible replacement.
Or, browse through "Thrift Stores" for a "pre-owned" one.
