Question about Orbit Underground 57896 6 Station In/Out Timer
I have recently acquired an Orbit Sprinkler timer (Model 57896) to be used in Europe (Spain) and it seems to not work properly. I am using an external transformer (220V to 110V) to adapt to the unit current requirements (110V AC). When I plug the timer, the display keeps on showing No AC all the time, as it is not detecting proper input voltage. Find the type of transformer I am using into the following link: http://www.ebay.es/itm/191038554056?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_4784wt_1238 The item was delivered with a 3 V battery, which is working well. I have checked it with a multi-meter and it is fully charged (3,2 V reading). I can change whatever I want into the timer interface. The terminal by using the battery energy seems to work perfectly. I have tested the timer with one new watering valve connected. It does not work (the valve is not activated from the timer). After connecting the valve terminals to the timer the display keeps on showing No AC. 3. I have checked the voltage in the following points: a. Plug in my voltage house connection: 220 V --> OK b. Output of my external transformer 115 V --> OK c. Output of the Orbit internal transformer (in the terminals of the integrated circuit): 24 V --> OK There is a reset button on the front of the unit. I have pushed it several times to reset the unit, but no change. The unit is provided with several external connections: - Up to 6 terminals for 6 possible stations (valves). Either cannot be activated. - 1 terminal for an external pump. It cannot be activated. - 2 terminals for rain sensor (the unit was provided with a bridge in such terminals to by-pass it). - 2 terminals for 24 AC Output --> The reading of this terminals shows 24 V AC when the unit is plugged, despite the unit is still showing the No AC message. I presume that these terminals are aimed at being used for any additional external device, like a master valve. What is going wrong ? Is Orbit recommending using an specific transformer (220V to 110V) for EU regions ? I would appreciate if you can give me advice to fix this issue. Thanks upfront, Kind regards, Jordi Alfonso
