These can be tricky, first remove everything you can from the glass top then very carefully using two small screwdrivers like tyre levers gently go around the outside & the glass top will lift off.

SOURCE: Replacement of glass top

Check your warranty in the back of your use and care book. If the unit was manufactured prior to 1/1/06 it may have a five year part (not labor) warranty as long as you did not physically abuse it. The glass top comes as an assembled top (glass, the black seal, and the metal frame holding it)
Disconnect power. remove screws under the front edge of cook top. lift cook top and remove crossbars holding burners up against glass top. Unhook cook top / frame assemble. Install new top in reverse order.

SOURCE: GE EVOLUTION Glass top. The hot surface(Glass top)

Individual burners, located directly under the cooktop glass, contain a temp sensor which lights up the hot surface lamp when they sense a hot condition. If the light stays on after all burners are cool, one of the sensors has shorted out. The sensors are an integral part of the burner, so the offending burner must be replaced to solve your constant on hot light.

SOURCE: Broken Glass on Cooktop

Ouch. The glass top does have to be replaced but I just ran the partial model number on your range and if you're at the comp. I hope you are sitting down. Replacing it not bad. Purchasing tho is rediculous. Retail suggested price just for the top is 600.00. Rediculous pricing but GE is like that sometimes. Sorry but repairing the glass is not possible and getting it from a glass shop isn't either. Sorry for the not so good news. Rick

Why are there brown/white streaks inside oven door glass after using self cleaner 1 time?

Thank you for your post, friend!

From my understanding after you used the self-clean feature on your Frigidaire range you now have brown and white streaks on the indoor glass. Typically streaks can be removed by cleaning the interior glass. Normally it is recommended to have a professional clean the inside glass but a consumer can do it as well. Use caution when following the steps some pieces can have sharp edges. You will need to have a Phillips head screwdriver or small quad bit driver.

A. Refer to owners guide for instructions on how to remove oven door.

B. With door in broil stop position lift door assembly off hinges.

C. Lay door on table, position so that handle hangs freely over edge of table

D. Remove 2 screws and washers that secure handle to lining assembly.

E. Remove 8 screws that attach textured steel door wrapper trim to lining assembly 3 at top, 3 at bottom, 1 on each side

F. Lift door lining up and out of wrapper trim assembly.

G. Lay lining assembly on table with wool shield/inner part of lining facing up.

H. Remove 2 glass clamps via 2 screws per clamp. These clamps attach innermost clear glass to wool shield.

I. Lift out center clear glass from wool shield, this glass just lays onto the wool shield and is held in place by the glass/ clamps in item H.

J. Clean each glass with appropriate cleaner.

K. One glass that remains in door lining assembly can at this time be cleaned without further disassembly the lining assembly.

L. Reassemble in reverse order.

Hopefully this is helpful. -Matt

Glass top range is pitted and scratched from an abrasive cleanser. Can it be replaced. It is a whirlpool freestanding range about 2 years old

Yes, your glass top assembly on your range can be replace. Here is one link where you can get the part, http://www.apdepot.com/Products/PartsLookup2/IPLLookupFrames.aspx?Brand=WHIRLPOOL&ModelNo=GR399LXHS1&ImgID=EdI2&ImgFile=WTKIKKLL

It is a relatively easy job to replace the main top since the burners are not attached to the top assembly itself. Remove 2 or 3 screws on the front of the top and you can easily lift the entire top off of the range and replace it with the new top.

How come my canon mp830 printer prints a black line on left side when using ADF?

there are many possibilities that you will have to check out for: 1)either there is any dust got collected in the ADF assembly.so that dust is also coming in the prints. 2) of there is any thin object like hair got stuck up in the inner side of the ADF assembly.so whenever the print comes this copy of hair comes in every print out. 3) also there can be a slight crack in the ADF glass assembly.so this slight crack is giving the line in prints. 4) also the other reason can be that the black cartridge is low on ink.in this case it needs replacement of cartridge or the cartridge refilling. ----- so the first step you can follow is that you take a cleaning brush and clean all the dust on the upper ADF glass assembly where you place the paper.then take a moist tissue and clean the glass of the ADF assembly. then check out.if still the same problem then take a air blower and blow the air in the inner as well as outer area of ADF assembly and check out.if still the same problem then check out if any crack on the ADF assembly glass.if no crack then its the fault in the inner side of glass.for this the assembly and printer both needs to be disassembled.but this will require proper tools.its advisable to get it done by local printer/copier repair technician familiar with this brand/model. This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya

Yes, the glass cook top can be replaced. These counter top inserts are actually fairly simple to repair, but the entire assembly usually has to be uninstalled to accomodate removing the glass top and installing a new one. You will need to provide a model number by opening the cabinet underneath the cook top and looking for a nameplate in order for me to assist you further in determing a part number, cost and how to disassemble.

Replacing the Ceramic top is not difficult. Just remember to be careful. There should be 2-to-5 screws holding the top to the front support. Removing these screws will allow the top to be tilted up and back. Depending on the style you may have to remove the burner plates from the top. Remember to disconnect the power before attempting any repair
