My daughter turn her ds game off and then put the ds nintend dogs game in and turned it on. She found all her dogs were there. She fed them and took them out- it shut down by itself. She turned it back on and the dogs were gone- only one remains on the system.

To delete your whole game on nintendogs just press and hold the a, b, x, y, l, and r buttons all at the same time while the game is loading prior to the title screen appearing. (Right when it says nintendo) But beware if you erase all saved data, it and your puppies can never be recovered.
To delete just one dog go to the Dog Hotel and choose donate. Pick the dog you want to get rid of and you'll never see that dog again.
well its a new game system its not going to work the same ....... the dogs game has been out for a while and D.S i is new .... i have a D.S game that has a sticker on the front that says ABLE TO BE PLAYED IN D.S i......... you may have a game thats not compatible with the D.S i because its older than the games that are new ... try putting a new game in ur new system and then answer bacK THANK YOU
it is a very common problem with the nintend DS console, its to do with dust or dirt being trapped between the connectors that the game cartridge connect too. make sure that this is clean, properly, (not by just blowing into it) my advice is to use a DRY cotton bud or something allong those lines.....hope this helps, if it doesnt get back to me
Quick, check every menu on the game. This is what happened to a friend who had Mario Kart. "Deleat data" was accadently selected when that person was trying to edit something. The data was lost. Check all menus. The wrong thing could have been selected. If you cannot find a way to deleat data, then make sure you never turned off the DS, DS light, DSi, or whatever when saving. If it was turned off when saving, then the following can happen: Nothing, Data Erase, or data destruction. Data destruction means the cartridge is ruined. That didn't happen to you, though. I am sorry, but you must start over.
take out all of the games in the ds then the menu should come up then click the little ds picture at the bottom. that will take you to another menu. click on the wrench in the pink box, then click the top box which has an arrow pointing into a box. click the top box which says manual mode then press confirm. the ds will go off then when you turn it on it should go to the menu even with a game in. hope this helps! =)
After a lot of frustrated searching for a response, have sussed the resetting.
When you tap the dog to launch the game, immediately hold down the XYAB buttons and the Left and Right ones (WHICH I HAVE FINALLY REALISED ARE NOT THE EXTREMETIES OF THE CROSS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE DS SCREEN) but are on the outside top of the whole console on either side of where you put the card in.
Almost immediately the screen will say, do you want to delete the previous play, are you sure, really really sure, and then it thinks about it for a good while and then it is reset.
We still think the main problem of not being able to actually name a dog will continue, but at least we have reset it.
