Cooling fan no longer working on tv

The fan made a noise and when the tv was turned back on after 2 hours the temp light was flashing and the tv shut itself off. The lamp is ok and we have removed the fan. Can we use another fan to replace it with or do I need to purchase the exact fan from Hitachi? I have bought a fan from Allied and it seems to be almost the same except it does not have the white wire my original fan did. I may be an idiot but the amp is the same and the fan itself fits like the old. (or at least looks as if it will line up correctly)

Chances are good that it will work. The only catch is that one of the wires are monitored by the protect circuit. If the wiring is different it may not work. I would try it though. Nothing bad should happen. Make sure that if it does work that the fan is blowing in the correct direction.
Hope this helps,

Samsung model hlt4675sx\xaa projection tv wont work. the stand by/temp light flashes red and the lamp light flashes green? it makes the sound that it makes when it turns on but no picture. we looked at the...

It could be the temp sensor going bad. This sensor sits on top of the metal housing which the bulb assembly slides into. The bulb assembly will have a hole on top and this is where the sensor is above. There is a small blue and white wire that plugs into it. If you pull the wire out and put a paper clip or wire in the coupling you will basically bypass the sensor connecting the blue and white wire. If your tv turns on then that is your problem. Its cheap too. Here were my symptoms..1] Turn tv on 2] Bulb would light up..(which eliminates the ballast) regular picture would show up (which eliminates the bulb and color wheel) 3] 30 seconds later tv would shut down with 3 flashing lights. After bypass the tv turned on as always and hasnt shut down yet. Always un plug tv first. Get the replacement part to avoid overheating and possible fire

Above the light is a temp sensor with a blue and white wire plug. This sensor is the problem for all these shut downs in my opinion. Pull out plug and jump it with a wire or paper clip bypassing sensor. Tv should work now!!!!

Well my mom was watching tv and it just shut off so then my mom turned it back on thinking she might have hit the power button accidentally. But when she turns it on it started blinking the green light for...

The flashing light red power light should only stay while the fan cool down for about 1 minute after a power off (remember to always wait before unplugging the TV so the lamp can cool down with the fan). Does that flashing start right away after plugging back the TV after an hour of letting it without AC power.

The red light should flash no longer than 10 sec. This prepare the light to be turned on. If all is OK the green should stay (no longer flashing) and the sound and picture come on.

As for the lamp flashing, i bet it's only 1 time each 5 sec? Or do it group many rapid flash each 5 sec?

Things that can be wrong:
-the fan lamp

-the lamp is not proprely inserted (wait an hour before manipulating it to be sure it cooled down, and use glove to not put body oil on it).

-Lamps is defective and is not operating properly so you can't get to the usual on screen message that recommend to change the lamp.

BenQ DX 650 Won't power up making clicking noise

Those units are designed to be fan cooled after the bulb shuts off. When the cord was pulled, the unit lost power and without the fan, sat there and cooked. Could be a thermal fuse, could be the bulb.

Samsung HLN5065W 50 in. Rear Projection HDTV-Ready

With the back off of the set it will shut off. There is a lever it engages to prevent the set being operated with the back off.

The color Wheel will cause a fan like or high pitched grinding noise. I can tell you where to buy it and also there are on the internet places with written and VIDEO instructions for the replacement in most of these sets.

Put the back on and see if the set again works and still has the noise.

TV SHUT S ITS SELF OFF

Is the unit free of dust and debris from dust? If its overheating there are may factors that play in this

1. fan spinning but not enought RPM rotations per min ( not fast enough)
2. room temp
3. dust

other then that some capictors must have exploded inside withc will cause a overheat.

Screen went black an hour ago, the sound is ON

Start by replacing the bulb. If thats a no go, check the ballast. Its a small circuit board directly underneath the bulb housing and is replaceable through the bulb panel. If those two don't work, comment back and I'll walk you through more 'in depth' repairs.
