Lol! No way to shorten a keyboard. Use a better desk or keep ur keyboard on the top in front of the monitor.

Vostro 1520- keyboard stuck on randomly repeating keys after small liquid spill.. no liquid inside, only a few drops on keys and it won't type right. Tried USB keyboard but it won't override the...

short of replacing the keyboard, there is not much you can do. If not killer expensive, then you could at your own risk put isopropal alcohol inside the tray - move around and then turn upside down. this will be easier on the electronics and may dissolve the liquid depending on what it is. If the viscocity is too high, then it wont work but worth a try.

Does latitude d510 have bluetooth? If so how do I enable it?

I think ,it has , you can enable it by doing following steps

  • Press and hold the "Fn" button on your Dell D150 keyboard. This button is located on the last row of keys between the "Windows" button and the "Ctrl" button.

  • Press and hold the "F2" button at the top of your keyboard. A small Bluetooth indicator will appear in your system tray showing you that Bluetooth features have been enabled.

  • Double-click on the Bluetooth icon in the system tray. The status should be set to "On" or "Enabled".

  • Thanks for choosing Fixya

I can't eject a dvd from my mac pro desktop

Try these tips.....usually holding down the touchpad buttton while tapping the eject button during bootup works.

picexporterror Shut down the computer and start up whilst holding down the mouse button. This may take some time, but keep your finger on the mouse button right up until the disc comes out or the log-in screen has appeared.
picexporterror If you have Toast Titanium installed on your computer, choose EJECT DISC from the menubar.
picexporterror Sometimes you can successfully use the eject disc button in iTunes even if the disc is not visible to the Finder
picexporterror Open Disk Utility and choose the disc you wish to eject in the left-hand pane, then click on the Eject button.
picexporterror Some Macintoshes have a paperclip hole that you can insert a straightened paperclip into, manually triggering the eject mechanism.
picexporterror Open Terminal and type "drutil tray eject" to eject the disc/tray, and "drutil tray close" to close the tray.
picexporterror Restart the computer while holding down Command-Option-O-F, to enter the Open Firmware prompt. Type "eject cd" without the quotes, and press return. The disk ought to eject. To start into OS X, type "mac-boot" without the quotes. Press return, and the computer will continue with the startup. (This will not work on an Intel Mac. There is no Open Firmware on Intel Macs. )
picexporterror If your computer has an eject button on the keyboard, restart the computer holding down the Option key. When the startup disk selection screen appears, let go of the option key and press the keyboard's eject button.

    Stuck dvd tray

There are many ways to eject a DVD. Try this.

Shut down the computer (complete power off, not restart)
Hold down the left button (Apple mouse?)
    Push the power button
Keep holding the mouse button down until it either ejects or the grey pinwheel appears. (It's not an instant process)

Usually, eject/F12 will open the drive up. If that does not work try.
Open terminal and use the command "drutil tray eject"

    You can also try command-option O + F and type"eject cd"
If none of this works your drive may be bad or the power cord is loose. You will need to open it up or seek professional service.

you didn't give a model number, but all HP's I have dealt with have a slide out paper guide to hold the paper. I suspect yours is missing or broken.

Change of CMOS battery in IBM Thinkpad 1400 2621

This battery is hidden under the keyboard slightly up and to the right of center of the keyboard. To get it out is a pain.

Start with the computer sitting flat, lid closed, lid latchs facing you.. just like you were getting ready to open and use it.

Spin it around, rear ports facing you. Right above the external video port, on the right hand side, there are two screws, at a diagonal UP from the port itself, very close to the bottom edge of the LCD. Remove them. There is a small notch between the screws, using a small flat-blade screwdriver, pry up in the notch and pop the platic backing free from the rear of the laptop. DO NOT open it more than a small crack, you are just popping loose a small plastic tab. Open it too wide and you will lock it closed again or break the plastics when you open the LCD lid.

Spin the machine around again, and open the LCD carefully as far back as it will go normally. Find the Power Button. The Power button is to the far right of a plastic 'strip, with 4 other buttons on the far left. There is a small clear plastic strip overlying this button 'tray'. Find the small notch in the bottom edge of the clear plastic strip, use the flat-bladed screwdriver, and gently pry up, popping the plastic strip out of the tab holes in the tray. Under this plastic strip is a black adhesive 'strip' that has a house, magnifying glass, etc. markings on it, and 'i Series' or somesuch printed on it.

Using a razor blade, peel up the black adhesive strip on the left and right ends of the button 'tray'. You will find two small silver screws. Remove these. Then using your screwdriver, or as I did, a dental pick, *gently* pry up the entire tray from the BACK edge of the tray, and by lifting up the left side of the plastic tray. You will have to work it out from under the edge of the LCD bottom on the left side. DON'T yank on it, there is a small cable attached to the bottom of it. You will be able to rotate it toward you and roll it over, exposing the small latch holding the cable in place. Its a small, press-fit latch like what holds a keyboard cable in place. You'll need to work it open by lifting the left and right edges till the latch becomes loose. Pull the cable straight out of the slot, remove the entire plastic 'tray', and set it aside.

On the far upper right of the keyboard there is a small metal tab holding the right upper edge of the keyboard. Reach around to the back of the computer, right-hand side rear, find the little square thumb-notch, and pull it out. The latch on the upper right edge of the keyboard should retract. Now, while lightly pressing down on the keyboard, push the keyboard away from you. It should slide backwards and the front tabs on the front keyboard edge will pop out of the slots. Lift up the touchpad area, popping up the bottom edge of the keyboard, clear of the plastics, then pull the keyboard slightly toward you. It should pop loose all the way around. DO NOT yank on it, there are 3 small cables attached underneath. You wil need to lift the keyboard up enough to reach the cables and pop the lockdown tabs loose, then pull the cables straight out of the slots they are in. The cable slots are attached to the motherboard, the cables are attached to the keyboard.

Removing the keyboard will expose a flat silver panel underneath. There are 5 screws holding down the panel, 4 in a 'box' configuration on the left, and a single one on the right, and several slide-tabs around the edges. Remove all 5 screws, then slide the whole tray to the right, while lifting up. The entire tray will pop up, with the video card heatsink attached on the left-underside of the tray. Set this aside. Directly in the middle of the big hole you now have is the battery. Its smaller than a standard desktop motherboard battery, looks like a small silver button. Gently pry up on the bottom-left edge of the battery, very carefully or you will break the plastic clips holding it in place, and pop it out.

All done. Reverese order to put it all back together.

Under desk sliding tray won't slide

It sounds like She closed it with it not quite aligned properly.

First try lift up on it a bit while pulling it out some, if it's jammed it may take quite a bit of force. If you have more than one person 1 might lift and the other pull.

If this is tried with no success, you may have to go underneath the desk with a screwdriver and remove one of the sliderails in order to dislodge it. Once loose seperate the sliderails from the mounts and then reattach the mount to the desk. Then insert the rollers into the mount (Holding tray at a 45 deg angle.) Once the rollers are in tilt the tray down and push the tray in to seat it. It should click into place when it catches. It should now be able to slide as normal.

    Hope this helps
