Question about Oster Kitchen Appliances - Others

Open Question

I have a new TSSTTRWA4R toaster. I try to toast a bagel and when done, the toaster turns off the heating elements, but the bagel does not pop up. I have tried it with the bagel button on and off. Same results. Am I doing something wrong. Do I have to use both the knob (1-7) and the bagel button?

SOURCE: tfal 2-slice toaster repair

look inside your toaster. there must be something inside it turn it down and see if something comes out.. if nothing is inside then try to see if the cord that you switched on is not broken. if you see a liitle bit scratch mark on it- switch off. You can get a electric shock. it is your favorite toaster so try to consult a electricion to fix the cord for you.

My Kitchenaid Toaster only toasts on one side. The bagel button is not turned on. The element inside does not heat up. Can this be fixed?

Most non-commercial toasters are not user serviceable. There is likely a break in the element contact on one bank. If you like to tinker, unplug, dismantle and re-solder any questionable connections.
Replacement is probably your only practical option.

Because the nichrome wire on one side of the toast has broken.
Its time to get a new toaster.

What are top buttons for

Each bay has 3 buttons: Left button: Frozen items (Waffles, etc.)
Center button: Bagel setting ( turns off the outside elements, toasting only the insides of the bagel)
Right button: Cancel (turns off the Frozen and/or the Bagel settings and "pops up" the toast.

The is by design. The bagel side only heats on one side because of the bagel not needing to be toasted .

Received 2 slice toaster (kitchenaid) as a gift - from the very 1st time it was used, only the outer coils would heat up, so only 1/2 of each slice ever gets toasted!!! Anyone who could help solve this...

I think it is set to cook bagels. Check the control settings.
Most toasters have a bagel setting which only cooks the
sliced side of the bagel. This model is designed to accept bagels. Hope this helps.

Looking for the thermistor is the correct first step. Depending on how the heating elements are wound, mine failed at a bend that wrapped around the panel supporting the element windings. Vaporized a small segment. Unfortunately, i wasn't able to find a replacement heating panel. I suggest you use an ohm meter to check continuity on the heating elements. There will be some resistance. If you find the failed circuit, you're really stuck for repair methods, most elements are not designed to be repaired without the correct welding tools. Good Luck.

The two inside elements do not toast. The outside

You either have a stuck/defective bagel button, which turns off two elements; the elements have a break in them; or there is a wire broke or loose on the inside elements.

If you can use a multimeter, you can unplug the toaster and remove the case and check for all of these conditions. At each end of the toasting element, check for continuity, if OK, then check the bagel button to see if it is working correctly, again with the continuity check.

Check all connections to make sure none have burned off at the wire/connector points, and finally, check the thermal fuse to see if it might have failed.

Other than that, there isn't much else to check.

Hope you found this Very Helpful - Best regards!

Toaster only toasts on one side

Please ensure that the "Bagel" function is not selected (LED is not lit up). The Bagel function will toast one side of the bread while only warming the other side.

Duraband 4 slice toaster manual model # TS-5221

if u need a manual for a toaster, then u r really in trouble...espcially for the amt of money u paid for it.
ok...
if u need instructions on how to use a toaster...here goes:
When:
A toaster is used to heat slices of bread, bagels, waffles, etc. to a hot, crispy consistency. Most toasters allow the user to set the toasting length to ensure the toasted bread comes out to temperature and crispiness to the user’s likes.
Where:
Toasters should be used on a flat, uncluttered surface near an electrical outlet but far from sinks, or running/standing water.
How:
To toast bread in a toaster, follow these instructions:

1. Place slices of toast, one each, in the slots on the top of the toaster.

2. Find the toast setting (a knob or lever) and adjust to the desired wellness of the toast. (Generally, there is a scale printed near the knob or lever ranging from light to dark toast).

3. Push down the toasting lever (moving the slices of bread down into the toaster between the heating elements.

4. When the toast is finished, the slices will “pop” up automatically.

5. Remove the toast from the toaster.
WARNING:
If the bread should get stuck inside the toaster, DO NOT PUT ANYTHING INSIDE THE TOASTER in attempt to dig it out. UNPLUG the toaster, turn it upside down and shake. If the toast does not fall out, use a plastic fork or knife to gently remove it from the toaster. Using metal utensils could damage the heating elements. NEVER stick anything in the toaster while it is plugged in.
*For further safety, it is recommended that the toaster be unplugged after each use.
I wish u luck and happy toasting.
