Question about GE GTUP270EMWW Washer

1 Answer

Water continuously drains and fills, and never gets particularly high

When I start a wash cycle, the washer starts filling. Then it will drain some water, then continue filling, then drain...it does this over and over...probably draining away the detergent. when it finally begins the wash cycle, the water level is only about 12 inches.

You will need to check you washer drain hose and make sure it is only inserted into your house drain pipe in the wall no deeper than 4-6 inches, alternately your house drain needs to be as high as the top of the washer lid. Be sure to secure your drain line from the washer to one of the water shut off fittings with a zip tie. You are most likely experiencing a siphon action because the washer hose is inserted too deep in the house drain. Pleazer Appliance...

SOURCE: Washer fills and drains repeatedly

Have a look at the routing of your drain hose. It sounds a bit as if: a. The highest point of the hose isn't high enough (you normally want to aim for about 3 feet off the ground) - so that water starts draining from the machine before it is finished filling. and b. There isn't an effective air break or anti-siphon valve where the drain hose goes into the domestic drainage system - so that once the machine starts to drain by itself, it continues until empty. A.

SOURCE: Fills, washes, but won't drain or spin

Possible your outlet filter is blocked, it needs periodic cleaning, which the user can do himself. Locate where this is from your user's manual. Clean out, re-fix. Next it could be the hose that goes from the bottom of the tub to the filter pump; check the former first.

It sounds like it could be the lid switch, check to make sure the lid switch is clicking when you close the lid.

LG Turbodrum DD 8.5kg WT-R852 washing machine, will not completely fill with water to water, to initiate the wash cycle, wash process stops there.

THE WASHER IS OBVIOUSLY HAVING A PROBLEM DETECTING THE WATER LEVEL? IT DETECTS AS FULL WHEN ITS NOT AND THEN GOES INTO DRAIN CYCLE? THE FILLS AGAIN? I would suspect the water pressure switch but if it was detecting a full cycle it would sent it into wash cycle? the water inlet valve only allows the amount of water it is told to send in and does not control the amount or drain cycle. Im not sure here but Im thinking maybe the water level switch may be flawed, the one that has low-medium and high? all these can be checked with a multimeter

Water continues to fill after it should have

first does it over flow.if not pull your drain hose up from the drain till it is aleast the same level as the back of the waher control panel.
If the Drain hose is to far down in the pipe this will cause the water to drain out by gravity.the other least likely problem is a bad fill pressure switch.

Two year old Whirlpool washer started failing to advance from the rinse cycle to the spin cycle a couple of weeks ago. However, the water would drain through and run until you manually advanced the system...

Hi, I just want clarification. Is the washer filling to a point when it starts draining the water before it starts to agitate? If this is the case, check the end of your drain hose and make sure that it is as high as the top of the washer. Make sure that where it goes into the drain pipe that it is a loose fitting so that air will **** back into the drain hose. Please let me know if I have given you the right information or if I have missed what you are describing so I can assist you further.

Thank

WILL NOT STOP FILLING

Hello Friend, You either have a bad water level/pressure switch or your water inlet valve is bad. If you unplug the washer from the wall and the water stops filling the washer then it's not the water inlet valve. If it only continues to fill when wash cycle is started then you will need to replace the water level/pressure switch behind control panel. This should solve your problem. Happy to help, Tim.

Water will not stay filled in tub on rinse cycle

It sounds like a siphon issue.
Check that the drain hose does a high loop before it goes into the drain pipe. (ie. drain hose loops above the water level inside the tub). Make sure the drain hose is not pushed too far down into the drain pipe. Also if the drain hose is sealed to the drain pipe this will create an airlock and a siphon will occur, allow air to enter between drain hose and drain pipe connection.
This should help you but if there is still a problem let me know and I'll try to assist you further.
Good luck!

Washer keeps filling w/ water, only stops when changed to spin

Your drain line is too low.
OR the drain line is restricting air where it enters the drain stand pipe.
Remove the drain line and hold it up high.
Turn the washer on to fill. It should fill then stop.
This example should explain what you must do to correct the drain line problem.

Washer fills up than starts draining while in wash cycle

Hello , here is the fix-your drain hose is placed to low in the drain line in the wall, it can not be placed in water or it will siphon the water out of your washer into the drain pipe and it wont stop until it hits air. try pulling your drain hose up and out of the drain and get a zip tie or cable and tie it to one of the water valves by the drain pipe placing the end of the drain hose about 5-6 inches inside the drain pipe. Let me know if you have any other questions and good luck it will work.

Will not hold water during initial cycle

The drain hose needs to be lifted above the high fill level in washer. The easiest way to fix this is take the drain hose (if your drain hose starts from the bottom of machine and goes up)tie or strap it to the back of the washer so it cant sag or drop down and start syphoning the water.Remember the washer will drain out the water if the drain hose is lower than the amount of water in the tub.Thats why your making sure by tieing the drain hose to the highest point before it makes it way to the drain .

Washer continuously fills but drains at the same time during rinse cycle.

you have the drain pipe too low into tthe house drain pipe, raise the washers drain pipe up , you only need four inches down into the hous drain

also the house drain pipe needs to be as high as the lid of the machine before you put the washer drain tube into the house drain

you have a syphoning effect
