u will need a usb cable or a ethernet cable to connect it. you first need to install the driver of the printer on the laptop and that should be a cd that you got with the printer. as soon as the driver and software is on the laptop, u can connect the printer and it should work.

Have a transfer belt error What to do?

To fix this error, you will need to replace the transfer belt and/or reset the transfer belt count on your printer. If you are happy the the print quality of the printer, then you can try to reset the transfer belt count and that will clear the error. Otherwise you need to get a replacement transfer belt and swap it out before resetting the count.

To remove your existing transfer belt, you need to open the front panel, and remove the imaging unit by pulling the green handle. The belt is located above the imaging unit. Pull the belt down to release and then pull it straight out of the machine. Take your new belt and slide the back into the machine and push the front of the belt up to lock in place. Then you need to reset the belt count.

To do this, follow the steps below.

1. Enter Tech Mode by pressing [MENU] [#] [1] [9] [3] [4]
2. If you do not see the Tech Mode menu press the menu button again. (You need to enter the key sequence quickly.)
3. Select Tech Menu
4. Select DataSetup
5. Arrow to Clear Counts and press OK
6. Enter Password 1934
7. Arrow to Transfer Belt and press OK.

Hope this helps you.

Paper is stuck in printer - have tried to pull from the back & under the scanner but no luck - any hints?

Open front cover, remove the drum unit. Check inside the printer.
There is also transfer belt assembly inside, which is also removable but it is tricky to reseat. If the paper is stuck in the fusing unit look around it for some disengaging levers in green color. Use them to release the paper and remove it.

UPC drum stuck

My co-worker managed to get the UPC drum back in by prodding the toner cartridge (which was too close and thus blocking the UPC drum) slightly to the side. After the UPC drum was back in she closed the printer, went through the menu that allows the toner cartridges to be moved for removal/replacement. She removed the toner cartridge, got the UPC drum out, removed the transfer belt, cleaned it and put everything back into place. My printer is now back in working order! And I owe her lunch, big time!
Should I ever have to do this again, I will remember to remove one toner cartridge first.

All you need to do are two steps:
1- detach the paper tray and push it back correctly.
2- open front door and remove toner cartridges, on left inner side u may see a light sensor which detects the toner cartridges.. simply clean this section by a small cotton bud. and left side of toner unit thr is a sensor door, behind that door there is also a light sensor bulb, which needs cleaning by a cotton bud.

thats all
