Thanks for your comments, however, be assured!!! no picture or menu will be displayed, because the units power to the sustain boards are not present (i e VS & VA ) . Do you have anything you might suggest? There is a fault causing the power supply outputs to the sustain boards to shut down.

Are your aware of the small pushbutton "master switch" which is located below the tv screen ? it is normally located on the right side about 4" from the edge. if turning this switch on doesn't fix it, replace the "smps"...switched mode power supply

    u have a damaged Plasma panel .
If this is not the problem you
could have a bad logic or y-main (most common problem) will need to
perform a white screen test on the plasma panel to verify this is the

This is what u need to do

    1. Remove the back panel of the TV.

    2. Remove the Small Signal Board bracket ( the two long bars on back of
the plasma panel, the bracket that is connecting the two with SSB on
it, remove this and disconnect the connectors to the power supply
(CN1M02,CN1M03, CN1M45)except for the main power plug in you will still
    need this)

    3. Once u remove the SSB bracket you should see a plasma panel resembling pic 1.

    4. Place a jumper wire or connect the two pins (CN 2012) on the logic board located underneath the SSB bracket.

    5. Also place jumpers on the power supply (J8003 and J8004)

    6. Now plug in the power supply, U should hear the relays click and
after 5-10 sec you should see a green led on power supply, and 2 green
leds on logic board 1 will be solid and 1 will flash.

With this set up you should get a white screen on your TV this will let you know if the panel is bad or not.

Hi Rick

To start ensure that is picture in picture on, that will cause sound but no picture.

Also ensure that you have sound but no picture on different input , and with different devices attached, otherwise the problem can be video cable or input board.

Also try a factory reset. Press Menu Button, then in sequence 4, 7, 2 and 5 to enter service menu.

In Service menu Go to Options, then chose Factory Reset, wait a couple of seconds
Press Escape, Standby and Unplug from Main, waiting ten minutes , then turning TV on again

Other than this , and the PSU, parts that can give you no raster on plasma TV are the Sustain boards , input output connectors, and the buffer boards.

Parts must be tested before replacement.

My power will not turn off and the blue light stays on. I get no picture or sound. PLEASE HELP!!!

First of all you have to check the Va - 60V and Vs - 80V voltages at the power supply point. If any one of the voltage is missinig there are two possiblities for that. One is the power supply itself and the second one is the sacn drive modules for X and Y. If the scan drive modules are faulty then the or short then the Va Ans Vs voltage from the power supply will have to measure using a multimeter is there is any short circuit in its power supply in put point. When the voltages from Va and Vs point are missing then this will indicated by the blinking of power light. To rectify the problem you need a good knowledge in electronics. Aslo need the necessary equipments for measuring the voltage at different points

Hitachi Plasma model P50V701 - press the POWER button, display lights go from standby-red, to Power-blue to blinking blue and the sound and picture appear for about 2 seconds. have tried unplugging and...

(Green Power LED will go Green the Go Off) Brief rise then collapse of the Vs and Va voltages.

This indicates a "Load" on the line.

Pull the CN-64 connector feeding Vs/Va voltages to the X-SUS.

Take an ohmage reading from the Va and Vs lines on each PWB.

This means you have to read the Connector on the Power Supply and the pulled connector going to the X-SUS.

See if there is a low value. Low value indicates a defective PWB.

Normal reading should be infinity. (Using the diode mode on the DV/Voltmeter, there will be a brief charge

time, then infinity.) In other words, it may appear as a low ohm reading, but should rise to infinity or open.

(Also not, if there is a charge on the line, the meter may show a low. You must Pull the CN68 connector and take

a reading again).

The line should now be infinity when reading the Power supply pins for Va and Vs and when reading the

connector going to the X-SUS PWB.)
If a Low is see on the connector, pull the CN32 Connector. (Bottom right hand plug on the Y-SUS PWB)

How do i fix my magnavox tv, it keeps blinking red. it wont let me turn it on. what do i do to solve this problem?

If you remove the back, you might see a couple of electrolytic caps that are bulged on the power supply, that need to be replace, or just replace the power supply itself. There are also two readings, that you can read, the VA voltage and The VS voltage. There will be a label on the inside on the back farme that will tell you what the VS, VA, voltages should read on the output of the power supply.

Akai 42' flatscreen i turn the power on the green indicator lights up and in i hear a click but i dont get a picture no other functions work such as volume, input,or channel buttons. is it my main board or...

On the power supply board there is a VA & VS voltage that you need to check to see if they are reading right. On the inside of the panel there is a lable that will tell you what the Voltages should be for VA & VS. If they are ok, they you probabaly have a bad Y board, if the votages are wrong then you need to replace the power supply. And check for bulged caps on power supply too.

Picture gone on an LG 42pc1dv-ec plasma. Sound OK, inputs OK. Vs fuse blown on y-sus board. Replaced fuse but still no pic. Checked d.c voltages from PSU. When switched on from cold Vs>300 and Va>80....

Your Vs voltage is high, check if the heatsinks on the Z-sustain board are getting hot after a short time, if so replace the Z-sustain board. If not, dis-connect the Vs & Va plug connection to the Y-sustain & check if the voltages are normal (185V & 80V). If they are then your fault will be in the Y-sustain board. There is a possibility the control board (sits below the power supply) could also be a problem as it is not able to initiate the control to the sustain boards.

Hitachi PDP 55HDT79 got no picture

that power supply is a switch mode power supply, which means it looks for an input signal to turn on.
that signal comes from the main pc board.
if there is excessive current draw,it will shut down.
check the input, and the screen circuit it is driving
