If your laptop has no port for a phone line, there is no modem. I am assuming you want to use your laptop with dial-up internet service. You will need to add a modem(there is no adapter to do this job), there are many connection types for external modems nowadays, PCMCIA, ExpressCard, USB are some examples. USB is the most popular, like the one at the top of this page: http://www.zoom.com/products/dial_up_external_usb.html

Hopefully this helps.

Yes, but you need more than just a place for a phone jack. You need a modem. The type you need depends on what you have available for connections. For example, if you have a PCMCIA slot, there are a number of modems that you could slide into it. They will come with an RJ11 receptacle in which to put your phone cable. Google "pcmcia card modem" and you'll get a bunch of hits. That's the most likely.

If you don't have a card slot but do have a USB connection available, or a serial connection available you can get modems that connect to those. If none of those work (I'd be surprised) post what connectors you have available and we can probably figure a way.

I cant find the right charger im looking for i think it must be an old model its for a Toshiba satellite A40 151

Hello,

I understand you need to replace your AC adapter for your Toshiba laptop computer model
A4-151.

An after market charger is usually OK, if you very throughly check the charger for the connector into your laptop and the voltage and current rating. If you have the bad unit, verify these factors with the supplier I have provided below for you to copy and paste into your web browser.

If any doubt, try other supplier sites as this is the number one problem of trying to get the right AC adapter. The other option is to buy from Toshiba direct, but will pay 3-4 times more.

Good Luck

How do I remove and replace the keyboard on my satelite A 120 laptop. Can I have some instructions please.

Hello,

Step one: Remove the two screws from the bottom of the computer that are holding down the Toshiba Satellite A100-S8111TD Keyboard bezel. The bezel is the bar that sits right above all the function keys.
Step two: Turn the computer over, open the cover and insert the credit card or guitar pick between the bezel and the laptop screen. The bezel has pegs that sit in holes, you need to slowly pry up the bezel. It will make a bit of a popping noise as it is removed.
Step three: Now hold on to the laptop keyboard from the end closest to the screen and gently pull it away from the touch-pad end and flip it over. You will see the ribbon attached to the underside of the Toshiba Satellite A100-S8111TD Keyboard. There is a little plastic connector holding the ribbon to the computer. To unlock it, carefully pull up on the two tabs; one located on each corner of the connector. Be very gentle when you do this as this is the one part that gets broken the most often when changing a keyboard. The ribbon cable will now be released.
Step four: Carefully pull the ribbon out of the connector and remove it along with the entire Toshiba Laptop Keyboard.
Final step: To insert the new Toshiba Satellite A100-S8111TD Keyboard, place the board face down so you have easy access to the ribbon. Make sure the keyboard is lined up so when you flip it back over the keys are in the correct position. Keep the ribbon straight at all times; twisting it could damage it. Place the ribbon in the connector; it only goes in one way. Once in place, push down on the connector tabs to lock it. Now flip the keyboard over and slide it down toward the touch pad and take the bezel and line the pegs up with the holes and push it in place. Then turn the computer over and replace the two screws you removed from the bottom. You can now power on your computer and see if the Toshiba Satellite A100-S8111TD Keyboard works. If it is not working, more than likely the ribbon was not inserted properly.

When I try to boot up my A105 (with battery in or out and AC/DC adapter connected) the battery light flashes yellow 10 times. I've checked the output of the adapter and it is good. Any suggestions?

If you have tested with another adapter with the same results, flashing the BIOS can resolve a power issue.

From the Toshiba website:

http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/outFrm.jsp?ofId=AskIris&searchString=a105+bios&x=11&y=8

Be sure to look at the ReadMe file.

Hope this helps.

Changing the DVD player in a Toshiba P205

Usually with laptops, there's a single screw which holds the drive in place; it is meant to be interchangeable. For your particular model, check here:

http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/toshiba-satellite-p205/removing-motherboard-1.htm

To locate the screw in question: it should be approximately 5 inches in from the side of the laptop, and roughly in the center of the width of the drive itself. It won't hurt to unscrew a few screws in that area underneath, you'll eventually get the right one, and the laptop should be fine as long as you only remove a few and remember to put them back afterwards.

Also, be aware that your optical drive may or may not have an adapter screwed onto the connector end, to make the universal slimline drive connector match your laptop's proprietary IDE connector. This piece, if present, should be removed and attached to the new optical drive you plan on putting in.

Hope this helps!

Hard drive from gateway solo pro 40 gig will it work in toshiba

I'm pretty sure it will. The only thing is that Gateways of that generationn used a custom connector which plugs onto the hard disks standard IDE / ATA connector.Just pull this extra connector off and you can use the disk in any machine.
Also ,Toshiba used similar adapters,so if Toshiba's using one on your model, then you'll need to palce the toshiba adapter onto the hard disk from your Gateway. You may also have to go into your BIOS ,and make sure the BIOS recognizes the disk if your BIOS isn't already set to "auto detect".

Toshiba m35-s456 no power

To test if the adapter is faulty check it with a multimeter.
Test the output voltage on the connector that plugs into the laptop. The voltage should be 19 volts (the voltage is printed on the label on the adapter) or slightly higher because the is no electrical load on the adapter.
If there is no voltage or if the voltage fluctuates when you flex the power connector, then the adapter is faulty.

If the adapter is OK, then plug it into the laptop and the jiggle the connector a observe the charging LED light and if it flickers the fault is the power connector on the laptop. This can be repaired, it needs to be resoldered or replaced.

I AM TRYING TO INSTALL A NEW HARD DRIVE INTO MY TOSHIBA SATELLITE A75-S206 IS THERE A URL YOU KNOW OF WITH INSTRUCTIONS?

Various laptop mount hard drives differently.
Some are mounted on the bottom of the laptop behind a screwed panel and may be mounted in a cage and may have adapter that fit on the hard drive connector pins.
Other hard drives are fitted on the edges of the LH side or RH side of the laptop behing a plastic panel and this panel is held in place by a screw. Again the hard drive may be mounted in a cage and may have an adapter connector on the hard drive connector pins.
If you are not sure goto the Toshiba WEB site to download the user manual or service manual for your model laptop.
