Question about Sanyo PLC XP46 Multimedia Projector

Open Question

Installed new lamp, light flickers, sometimes turns on, somtimes not.

My father bought the wrong lamp for the projector and broke the molex lamp conector housing out of the projector trying to force it in. I supper glued it all back but the molex pins were striped of there support hooks and so when the male pin try's to go into the female, the female pin just pushes out the back of the lamp housing connector. So I tried using **** wire connectors bypassing the molex housing altogether. After this I got some response from the lamp, but it was just a faint flickering, and then the projector turned off. So then I soldered the wires of the lamp and ballast cables together, and wrapped them with electrical tape. The flickering became more aggressive and then the lamp would sometimes fire up, and sometimes the projector would give up and shut down. I used it for a few days like this but it wasn't long before the bulb exploded. Here are my questions. Is a molex connector really so much better then solder and electrical tape that the wires are shorting out? If so, how can i find out the size and model of the replacement molex pins. I have the housings, but my pins are broken. I tried cpu power supply molex pins from an old pc and they are just barely too small. Lastly, if it is not my conection to the lamp, what do you think it might be?

SOURCE: sanyo plc xu115 new bulb wont fire. power light

Could be a burnt capacitor on the circuit board. Replace capacitor if you can determine which one it is. There are only a few.

Why is the light strobing ?

Lamps will sometimes flicker when they are near the end of their life. Look through the menus and check the lamp hours, if it is over 1000 hours I would try another lamp. This could also be caused by the lamp ballast, which is the power supply for the lamp. If the ballast is bad, repairs will cost almost as much as a new projector.

Rollei 35A slide projector - halogen lamp problem

Most all projection lamps of 1970 vintage are still available on the internet. There should be a 3-letter code on the lamp. Try using Google to search that lamp code. There are multiple vendors in the USA that have an amazing inventory remaining. Good Luck !! Jim

Does a lamp error message (6 blinking red status lights) mean the lamp needs to be replaced? or could something else be wrong.

According to NEC technical support, if the status light flashes red six times, this could indicate a defective lamp. If a new lamp is installed and the project still won't turn on, the projector will need service.

The light from the projector on my infocus lp70+ flickers kind of like a regular bulb that's going bad.somtimes the unit goes on for a few minutes and then it goes off by itself. any help is appreciated.

the colorwheel needs replacing. in order for the lamp to strike and stay on, the colorwheel has to stay at a certain speed to sync with the dlp. if the speed is off, the lamp won't stay on.
