Black line down the middle of scanned documents with HP 2575

Please, any help?
I do not know why I get a thick black line down the middle of any scanned document with my HP Photosmart 2575......
I would appreciate any help.

    Well, I really appreciate your help, although my machine still does not work, and it is a new HP 2575, bought in Canada but brought to my working place in LatinAmerica.
    But I accept that I will have to take it to a technician here somewhere, because I did everything you suggested, but without success. I still have that horrible THICK BLACK STRIP or LINE in the middle of my scanned and copied images.

I'd like to assist with this issue.

I understand the problem may have appeared like this?

This problem is quite a common one I have come across and the first step I take is usually to power cycle the all-in-one. This works in most cases. I understand you are seeing a black line such as this after scanning? If so, power cycling the unit may seem too simple, but in most cases it does help.

  1. Unplug the USB cable from the all-in-one
  2. Unplug its power cord
  3. Plug the unit back into a wall socket without a power strip if possible
  4. Connect the USB cable back in
  5. Try to copy a document. Is the problem now solved?
If not, you may need to try cleaning the glass. Turn off the all-in-one, raise the lid and clean the glass with a soft cloth or sponge slightly moistened with a non-abrasive glass cleaner or water. Dry the glass with a lint-free cloth.

Now close the lid, turn on the unit, and try to do a blank copy without inserting any paper. Is the problem now gone? If so, it may have been any residue on the glass which prevented the light from passing through to the page, and thus creating a black smear down the center.

If the issue persists, it may be an internal problem with the scanning unit, and in that case would need to be serviced.

if you scan so many documents the inside of the glass or the printer is full of dirt from the inks.So you have to open it and clean it very well especially the glass.Maybe you have and a strange sound...

if you have the same problem when printing any thing,t may be have a problem in your cartridges
or you have a problem in your scanner assembly (replace it)

Black line down the middle of scanned documents.

Try leaving the cover open and run a test scan, once with a fresh sheet as the item to be scanned and then a second time without anything on the table.  You may see what is blocking the light source or possibly a defect in it.
Scanning is done left-right, left-right across the width of the page and the vertical stripe indicates that the blockage is present during each scanned line.
In servicing copiers and multifunction machines, I have found a number of curious contaminents, one of the most annoying was a moth, still alive, that would randomly sit on the lamp, causing some pages to come out OK, others not. 
If your copies and printouts are coming out fine, then only the scanner can be at fault.

clean the print heads and run clean cartridge utility from printer properties window.after that
disconnect the power and usb cable from the back of the printer and press and hold down the
power button for 30 sec and then reconnect the cables and try the backdoor and
try to move the rollers in upward direction.

Try cleaning the cartridges to see if that helps..... mine did the same thing and after I cleaned it, it worked like new.

It is because coping is not the best way to get a perfect copy on the printer, Try scanning with computer using black and white photo it will come out much better if you are doing a pic. then use color picture.
