Question about Quartet gbc CC55 (Cross-Cut) Shredder

Taking the top off a Shredmaster cc55

I'm trying to take the top off a Shredmaster cc55 to take a look at the blades that seem to be bent (there is a really high whining noise and there is no paper pull). I have already removed all visible screws, but there seems to be something else holding the cover on the left back side. It is NOT the left handle screw as I have already removed it. I am afraid of breaking the plastic cover if there is really something else I shoud try before applying any force...
Please help.

They hide some screws pretty good. Also, try with a putty knife to gently pry arouond the cover seam. Their is always a puzzel to keep end users from DIY.

A sears dozer blade will not sit level.one side is an inch higher then the other on a level surface. was originally like this but has gotten worse

It does sound like you have a bent frame. It can also be soft tires on one side of the tractor. You can try putting a block under the lower end of the blade (while still attached) and push down on the the higher end of the blade to spring things back in shape.

Blade falls off when started. cant seem to tighten blade enough to keep it on

could be quite a few things, first try another blade and try and notice which pulley it rools off of first. If the back pulley look for a loose axle. If the front also look for a loose axle, bent housing ( from hitting work) or the shaft that tightens the blade might have a bent tang. If the front seems to be a problem you can loosen the axle and shim the backside, Also look at the condition of the tires for excess wear.

My 42 inch Toro seems to be cutting unevenly. The blades seem to be on correctly and I hope I haven't hit something to set the angle wrong

First thing to check is that the deck is level by the adjustments on wheels. Then check the bearings in the spindle housings and there is no play in the shaft when you try to move blade up and down. You then can measure from the blade tip bottom of deck on both sides (3 o'clock and 9 o'clock, and then 12 o'clock and 6'o clock They should all be the same. If not then either the shaft is bent, or the deck is bent slightly causing the blade not being parallel to the deck. If you have someone rotate the shaft you should be able to tell if the shaft is bent or not. If the deck is bent, then you will have to straighten it out till the spindle shaft is perpendicular to deck.

I ran over a cable-wire with my Craftsman 7 hp ohv front drive mower and it stalled out.\r\nI removed the cable and now the blade seems as though it seized, can turn the blade to a point and no futher....

Bent blade, bent mower deck or bent crank shaft.
Unbolt the blade, check under the spacer plate , and set blade on a flat surface to see if warped or bent.
Remove spark plug wire and pull start cord to see if motor will rotate. don't need to start. If pulls free then look for obstruction or dent.

I have a MTD garden tractor with 3 bag catcher and the shute constantly plugs up. I mow once a week but it's like there isn't enough vaccum to blow the grass into the bags. I have my blades with the bent...

bent part of the blades need to be facing up towards your deck which creates a vacuum and allows a better lift to throw the grass in the bag When bagging blades should be labeled as high lift blades which are designed for bagging . Also which you probably already know its better to bag when the grass is NOT damp.
Hope this helps your issue

Make sure the "connect buckle" is connect to the correct side, and not bent in the middle, it should be straight. If this doesn't help, new blades are sometimes different weights try to matching the weight of opposing blades you may even need to sticky tape a small weight underneath the blade to get them balance. Don't stick anything on to the top of the blade.

Shredmaster 1656 makes extreme noise when turned on. Sounds like motor. Please help!

Sounds like shred blades are bent down into each other.

UNPLUG.

If you can get the top off, you may be able to use a large screw driver to straighten out the blades.
