Question about HP LaserJet 4700 Printer
Either the job you are sending over is very large and the printer does not have enough memory to accommodate the print job or you are not using the correct driver. If you will go to the printer under "devices an Printer" and right click on the printer icon, select "printer Properties", and navigate to the advanced tab, you will see which driver your computer is using. The three most common drivers are PCL5, PCL6, and Post Script (PS). try using a different flavor as some printers like some better than others.
Each type of software installed in your system has to coincide with other softwares. A driver is a type of software that allows the hardware connected to your PC to communicate with the system. A sudo language so to speak. If the hardware is having a tough time with the communication you can try a new dialect and see if it improves.
Here is a link where you can download the various drivers for your system based on your flavor of OS for the printer you specified Drivers Software Firmware for HP Color LaserJet 4700 Printer series

The first thing you need to do is easy stuff, do this:
1. Unplug all cables except the power cord. Turn you printer on and see if it comes ready and says ready on the screen. Does it? If not your printer is at fault and needs repaired.
2. If it comes ready and says ready on the display then press menu, scroll to information scroll to configuration and press enter. Does it print anything out? If it does your printer is most likely ok and the problem is with something you are trying to print it doesn't understand or you are using the wrong driver which is the thing you click on when you want to print, download a new driver from hp support and install. Make sure it is specific to this machine and your operating system of your computer.
3.Save your project to another form like word or word pad or pdf and try it then and see if it works. If not and you have tried the new driver then replace the jet direct card if you are using a network cable. The jet direct card is the device that protrudes where the network cable plugs into. It is attached by two screws that have knurling on them. Change it to at least a Jet Direct 620N. If you are using USB cable to print to the printer and after you have tried the all the above, excluding the jet direct card as you dont need it to print USB and it says processing then your formatter board is bad. Best to have someone that knows fix it.
4. If you are using a network cable to print to your printer, try using a USB cable and see if it works. If it does then your formatter board is most likely ok, and the problem is the jet direct card.
5. There are a few ways to determine the problem, so best you give it a try what I talked about and return back with more info after you have tried these things or click on my answer as the best if it resolves the problem.

check paper settings in paper handling to set
at plain paper/ letter. or reset factory defaults.
check paper size on tray if app, set to standard or
letter ,not custom
do cold reset . must reinstall network info afterwards.

What I recommend you to do is turn off the printer, disconnect it from main power for a couple of minutes and then connect back and then turn on and counter suppose to reset by itself.
