Question about Sharp Microwave Ovens

Open Question

R520KST Sharp Carousel counts down but not on??

Clock/display works, interior light comes on when you open door, etc. but after you program and hit START it just counts down (like it is on but it is not!!) I have tried pulling up/slamming on the door, etc but dont think it is door switch as it does look like it is on (counting down with timer) but does nothing - no turning of carousel, no sound, nada. It is less than 2 years old.

Good for you for doing the cold reset. Good job!

Hopefully it was not stored in a damp or unheated area, since that can case damage that will complicate the diagnosis.

But generally, the most common causes of a failure to heat are:

- bad door switches or door switch mounts
- loose connection at the magnetron
- problem or loose conneciton on the control unit circuit board
- bad magnetron or other high voltage part

If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and
disassembly information at our site, linked here on Fixya: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

Please write back with more details if you need further help.

SOURCE: i have a sharp carousel

The easiest way I can remember is to turn off the power, then back on... this will make the display flash, then press stop/clear.

Then press clock, enter the time eg: for 9 am or pm enter 9.00 and press clock again.

Hope this helps.

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch or a loose door switch mount.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside. Its continuity must be checked.

Door switch or mount trouble can be caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical information on safety, disassembly and door switches at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

Have a Sharp Carousel R-309YW but seems like there is a random delay time period BEFORE the sound, platter turns, and microwave works. The light comes on, and timer counts down however. Thank you!

Bottom door switch trouble or its mount is loose, misaligned, or broken.

Sharp Carousel R530BK microwave won't cook unless light pressure is kept on the door button.

There are door switches and one of them is evidently out of adjustment or the little actuator arm on it is.

For a 1995 Sharp Carousel Convection Microwave oven Model # R-9H66 it has on display screen ''LOCK'' and will not allow any function, is there a solution? The light inside works when the door is opened...

Check the user book for the unlock code. This could be the child lock mode.

If one of the safety switches are defective, or if there is a sensed power supply fault, the uPC will put the oven in the lock mode for safety reasons.

Start microwave clockon sharp carousel oven

Not sure what the question is.. But if it is how to start the clock in a COUNT DOWN mode, then:

1, Touch TIMER BUTTON
2. Program in the length of time you want to use, before alarm comes on
3. Hit start button.

Unit will beep at the end the count down.

JVM1190 wont cook

You have a blown actuator. This is the device that creates the microwaves that cook the food. The cost of one of these will be as much as a new unit.

Every thing seem to be working, but the fan don't come on.

Quite often this is due to a bad door switch. Opening the door while cooking (without first hitting the STOP pad) is the primary cause of door switch failure. I have a text file called "doorsw.txt" which helps in diagnosing and repairing door switch problems, and a critical file called "safety.txt" which is of vital importance. These are at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk You can order parts for Sharp models from Tritronics at http://www.wehaveparts.com.
