You can try GENTLY pulling down on the mirror flap using something soft like a pencil's eraser. Make sure it's clean and the rubber will add some grip without damaging the mirror, but again. Do it gently! You can also check online for film camera repair shops. It's rare these days with all the digital cameras but they're out there.

Just put new batteries in. No film. I looked at the view finder and snapped a pic then the screen went black. I took the lens off and the mirror is sideways.

You have two main possibilities. The new batteries are incorrectly inserted or the batteries are faulty.

If not those, then it's a camera fault (it's definitely faulty if the mirror is actually sideways and not merely halfway up) and as you can get N75's for free these days (my last two have been boxed and nearly unused from FreeCycle) then it's simply uneconomical to repair it unless the mirror can simply be removed and correctly re-fastened. Spare parts availability is already very poor for the n75.

If you look through the view finder and it is black, the mirror is hanged up and the shutter is jammed. The mirror is still there.

Mirror lock up usually occurs when the batteries are dead.

Try replacing them, and NEVER pull down the mirror manually as you risk breaking the camera (if you have not done so already).

I just loaded up my old T90 after 4yrs of non use. All was well, the display showed mode, shutter speed etc then when I took the first shot I got HELP in the viewfinder and the three EEEs on the lcd. I...

Lin & Daniel,
I had the same problem w/ my T90 after years of not using it. But, the T90 is not dubbed the Tank for nothing. The shutter curtains stucked/stacked because of unuse, especially if you hadn't used it for years.
Here's what i've done to revived it:
I set the shutter speed Tv 500 in Low then hit the carpeted floor while pressing the release button.
Try it my friends and let me know.

Shutter staying open and only closing when dial moved to M90 or B

It sounds like your cameras need a CLA (clean, lube and adjustment). Occasionally when this has happened to me, i noticed that it was the foam on the mirror bumper that had gotten all deteriorated and gummy and as such the mirror would 'stick' to it when it flipped up. Changing the foam seals might do the trick.

Switching to M90 means that the camera is in Manual mode whereby it is not relying on the electronics at all in the camera. When your battery dies in mid shoot, you switch to M90 and you shoot manually at a fixed speed of 1/90 second. Of course your light meter won't have power, but if you meter manually or go by the 'Sunny 16' rule, you can adjust the aperture and get your shots.

Yes, moving the shutter dial to M90 should release the mirror back down, if it is stuck up.I'm assuming of course that you didn't manually set the mirror up anyway... Test it out with brand new batteries!

When taking a picture the mirror inside the camera stays up untill you remove the lens

It seems that the lens is restricting the operation of the camera mechanism a possible cause may be the lens actuating mechanism is stiff from being underused, from you description the manual setting for your lens is ok but when attached to the camera the pin on the lens which is activated by a bar situated in the camera at the bottom of the lens mount cannot be pushed fully home. Try pushing the pin on the end of the lens to see if it is being restricted and if so may need cleaning or just a few operations to free it off.

It sounds like your camera is having problems advancing your film, which could mean it is jammed inside the camera. The other thing you should check is to see if the battery is weak & doesn't have enough power to advance the film (and thus the beeping). If it is not the battery, then go in a darkroom (completely dark) and take out the film (if you're unable to rewind it inside the camera). Look at the transport rollers (in the back for the camera) and make sure they're clean (sometimes film chips get jammed in there) Let me know if this helps you. Thanks.

Pentax MX Mirror Stuck In Up Position

This is a result of the linkage from the shutter release button being out of adjustment. It is a mechanical fault that can be repaired very easily.
