Question about Epson CX7800 Stylus Color All-In-One Printer
After the paper pulled in the paper sota one side first, I went & pulled the paper (all in the paper holder) backwards & then it wouldn't work at all. It had a message come into the little display - it said "E-90 -call for service" I talked to Epson on the web & the phone. They had me unplug from computer to printer, then from the power. Wait & try turning it on again. I did this 3 times & no correction of the code E-90 nor running. Is there something I can fix myself or is it unrepairable by me?
Pulling paper out of a printer "backwards" will usually break a gear that is made to feed the paper in one direction.
Epson should be able to sell you the new gear and also when you order it - ask for the installation information or Service Manual to cover the replacement of the broken gear!! It helps a lot in putting the new gear in.

Step 1 Clear any loose paper from the paper tray. This will help you locate the jam. You will find it either in front, near the paper tray, or in the rear.
Step 2 To clear a paper jam near the paper tray, grip the paper and pull it firmly but gently from the printer. If you find a stack of papers jammed, grab from the middle of the stack and pull.
Step 3 For a rear jam, remove the back of the printer. When you find a free edge on the paper, grip it firmly and pull it out.
Step 4 Replace the back cover. Press the "Resume" button or turn off the printer, and then turn it back on. Your settings should reset.
Step 5 Try printing another document

You may have a foreign object blocking the path. Move the slide switch to envelope.
Use a piece of heavy stock (backing of a writing pad) put through backwards in the path of the paper output. Be careful of sensors(little black tabs) for the ink head, on either side. If you break them you will have bigger problems.
Lift the scanner assembly while tilting on its back and push the stock to free the foreign object out til you can grab it. Do all this with the printer unplugged.
Good luck - It worked for me.
