Lennox G40UH(x) series - Air not coming on

I have a Lennox G40UH(x) series furnace with a Honeywell Deluxe Programmable Thermostat CT3600A on the front end. When I put the tstat on cool nothing comes on at all. The system shut down for 6 hours. After reading some solutions here, the only thing I did was take the tstat cover off and tighten some of the screws. There is a blue wire in the tstat thats not connected to anything. This unit came with the house in 2002. The unit came on about 20 minutes later and started cooling. Then about 5 minutes later the system shut down. It is now back on and blowing for 40 minutes without a pause. What can be making the system go up and down like this (although it is blowing nicely now).

I installed a new thermostat on my hvac system and the heat is not working anymore.

On that thermostat there is an R and an RC wire connection, the R is the power wire for heat and RC is the power wire for cooling. If you connected the power wire (normally red in color) to the RC only the fan control and AC control will work, there has to be a jumper wire between the R and RC terminals (assuming there is only one control transformer) for both the heat and cool functions to work.

How many BYU is a Lennox G40UH (x) series furnace? And can it be vented with PVC? Thanks alot!

The Btu rating for this furnace is 40,000. Since the furnace has a 3 /34" metal flue collar on the top of the unit, you can not use PVC pipe to vent it. Only 90+ efficient gas furnaces can use PVC pipe for venting and the also come equipped with a condensation pump, which yours doesn't.

For more information on your furnace and how it's to be safely installed and vented, here is a link to the installation manual http://www.greenwoodheating.com/products/manuals/gasfurnaces/G40UH.pdf that you can download and print.

Hope this helped answer your questions?

I am replacing an old Lennox thermostat with a new Lux DMH110 digital thermostat. My furnace(oil) has only two wires on the thermostat(heat only). I connected the wires according to directions of new...

Make sure on the furnace that you have the same colored wires connected at the thermostat to R and W. Check for good connections at both locations. You can always test to make sure the unit fires by crossing the two wires together. If the unit fires, you have a bad thermostat.

Furnace will not heat.

Most of the Lennox G-16s that I have repaired were having problems with the gray Penn-Johnson Piggyback igniton control module.
This is best repaired by replacing the spark module. Sometimes it may be neccesary to replace the gas valve also. Lennox updated to a ROBERTSHAW ignition system. Honeywell can also be used.
Also check that there is no water in the pressure switch or tube.
Hope this helps.

Check your thermostat anticipator setting. If you dont know how to do this don't try on your own or you may damage your thermostat.

Wiring a Honeywell Deluxe Programmable Thermonstat

did you mark which terminals you removed the wires from on the old stat? If not you will need to look on the furnace and see what letters they are connected to .. then connect to the same on the thermostat.
