Can I charge the Dyson V8 without the wall mount therefore, by laying on its side? No wall space available.

Yes. The plug clips into the wall bracket and if you remove it you can use the charger just like any other. Alternatively just rest the V8 in the wall mounting bracket on the floor. I had no wall space either. I screwed my V8 to the back of the airing cupboard door.

Fein fmm250q not oscillating.. How do I disassemble the head?

Special be carefull with the 4 torx screws if you decide to disassemble the head because all the material of this machine is very soft before you know its broken its also not a expensive Fein model but a nice machine for that price . take a hand screwdriver with direct the right size to feel if its correct fit because its to late if a screw breaks. yes its having very soft material screws, the head cannot have a disassembling its a complete part and if that is complete but all by all decide if you think its worth to replace beware of the price , the price is marketing technically adjusted for this machine and expensive and not made to dissasemble in a bench vise you can all things try to disassemble but re-assembling with new spare parts is not deliverable. only complete . 1 little bearing gives the little eccentric rash on the head , i have i all the time i repaire tools not one time that a head of this tool was defect if you can move the lever free and smootly you can solvent clean and after that lubricate it again but re connect the bearing fronttop machine between the space in the lever set the head in a bench vise fixated that the lever is correct in the center position , and then mount the machine slowly on the head again and if its run mount a attachment or blade and control it again .

Cleaner won^t spray water

Helo There!
I the cleaner won't spray that is nit necessary mean the heater is clogged. Try to make sure if the pump is running (by listening to it, measure about 12 V on it). The pump has a hidden 3.15 A fuse in the cable harness (in a heatshrink). If that one is blown the pump won't work.
The heater is accessible after you opened up the base panel. Remove the tank assembly and look for the screws to the bottom plate. Loose and take out those, lift up the base panel carefully. Underneath, you will see a cell phone size aluminium piece connected to rubber lines. This is the heater. If you unscrew the mounting screws, lift up the heater, disconnect the rubber tubes. Take out the heater and open up by removing the screws around the edges. You can look inside, clean it if it was plugged. Assemble the pieces in reverse order and test the functions.
Good luck with your project!

Switches will not turn off unit. model #cv450w

If the switches on the hose will not turn off the vac you have a short in the wiring of the vac pipe system or a defective relay on the circuit board. Plug the vac in again without the hose and disconnect the thin low voltage wiring were it plugs into or screws onto the vac.
If the vac continues to run once disconnected from the low voltage circuit you have a defective relay in the vac itself. Some are circuit board mounted , others freestanding. To avoid a service call you can take the tank off the wall and take it to a pro shop or remove the top hosing if you are confident and check out the relay for a replacement part.
If the vac stops your issue is in the house. Has any painting been done or any inlets removed lately.. check that area first for a short at the inlet. Go back to any and all inlets and remove them one at a time checking the mounting screws and backing plates for loose wiring which is touching either the metal inner wall plate in the wall or a common screw . Test the vac as you go.
If this does not help, you will need to examine the wiring in the house , running along the pipe. Again if anything has been disturbed recently, near the vac, or near any piping that would be your first suspect area.
Post back to advise.

I have a Nutone central vacuum model number CV450W that was working great until I recently removed the hose and it now runs continuously until I pull the plug....any suggestions please

Disconnect the thin low voltage wiring between the vac and the rest of the house. If the vac continues to run you have a defective relay in the vac motor housing.
If the vac stops you have a short in the wiring in the house, likely behind an inlet in the wall.
If any inlets have been disturbed for painting or renos lately that would be the first spot to look in the house for a problem. Look for wires behind the inlet valve which are touching against each other or a mounting screw or against a metal mounting plate behind the inlet. Start at the last inlet used. Be careful not to loose the spring under the screws where the wiring attaches to the inlets

We just installed a Hoover central vacuum system. As soon as we plug it in the system starts even if the switch is off. If we disconnect the wire the system goes off. What did we do wrong?

You have either left the manual switch at the vac in the on position, or you have a low voltage short at one of your inlets in the house, or at the vac itself or where a pair of wires are connected together at a pipe junction.
Carefully go back inlet to inlet, remove the plates and be sure your mounting screw is not shorting two wires together. Trim any excess bare wire away and look for nicks in the insulation as well unless you see an obvious short. If you are using telephone type multi colored wire it is easy to bare an inside piece of wire while stripping the outer insulation.
Also be sure sure wires are paired the same color pattern at each inlet.
It is common to see a stripped wire touching another inside the wall or if you have metal backing plates in the wall a wire may be touching the plate and triggering the vac to turn on. Post back to advise,
the other possibility is you have a nail or screw in a wall piercing the wire but this is seldom ...
take your time, its an easy fix but it might be hard to spot

Nutone CV556 Vaccuum Cleaner -Continuously running

Start with this. Unplug the vac to shut off, then disconnect the low voltage wiring at the vac.Plug the vac back in. If the vac still runs you have an internal short on the relay or wiring inside the vac.
If the vac stops then the vac and final wiring is OK and the problem is in the wiring in the house.
Have you removed any inlets for painting or had any renos done or pictures hung. If so undo what you did last. If inlets were disturbed remove them and look for low voltage vac wires touching metal backing plates in the wall or touching the inlet mounting screws.
If you have done a reno or hung pictures you may have pierece the wire for the vac creating a low voltage short which will keep the vac running until removed. I have seen this happen with freshly installed 1/4 round molding along a baseboard

Outlet does not engage unit

I would try to remove the inlet from the wall and tighten the screws that the low voltage wires connect to. If that doesn't work I would buy a new inlet. They are very easy to change out and relatively inexpensive. The inlets are readily available online.

Hepa filter does not rotate

I just fixed my HEPA filter not rotating!!

It involves taking apart the vacuum HEPA area. All screws are the same size. There are a LOT of 'em. Really straightforward putting it back together too.

ok, once you take the HEPA canister area off the vacuum, careful with the wires! Unplug them from the controller board. You open up the HEPA chamber by removing more screws until you see where the motor that turns the filter is mounted on the side. Remove motor from the green chamber. Note where the washer goes. Once the motor is off, you'll see that the center hub that drives the HEPA filter is rounded out. What I did was jam little bits of aluminum from a pop can into the space between the circle and the square to force the walls back to square. I started by folding a little piece of aluminum over and over so it was about three layers thick. Jammed that in. That wasn't quite enough thickness so I shoved another piece with it. If you can find something that is about 4 times the thickness of a pop can aluminum, that'd probably work too. Slight wedge shape on the tip would help. Any sort of tiny shim.

To test your work, just put a couple of holder screws into the HEPA cannister housing, plug in the cover/switch, plug in the HEPA moter. Turn it on for a few seconds to make sure the filter turns. Then you can add more thickness to the hub or put things back together.

HEPA Filter

It maybe that the filter is in need of replacement. They need to be changed once a year.
