Laptop not recognizing Canon AFTER installing Norton 360

I have had my Canon Powershot SD40 for two years without a single problem. Last night we renewed our Norton anti virus and now the laptop will not recognize the camera for me to upload my images!

Evening went like this (with much searing):
- upgraded from Norton Internet Security to Norton 360
- immediately noticed laptop not recognizing camera
- uninstalled items under camers window link
- reinstalled, still not working
- do system restore to just before we installed the new Norton
- everything stopped working at network level
- ran chkdsk
- yes to repair bad sectors, this worked
- ran system restore again bringing us to just after we installed Norton 360
- laptop still not connecting with camera

When the things are working and I connect my camera docking station with USB cable to laptop and turn it on I get a window and a clear ding dong sound. However now I get no window and a very strangled muted sounding ding dong!

Thanks a bunch

I have acer laptop, i tried to uninstall Norton 360 2010 last night, mu computer crashed and i can't get any further on than the password stage without my computer crashing.

You can boot into Safe Mode then restore from a save point prior to the Norton uninstall.
That's as far as I've got - even using the Norton Removal Tool gives me the same issue, so still haven't been able to get rid of Norton And have a stable laptop.

I have an acer laptop, last night i tried to uninstall norton 360 2010, my laptop has now crashed and i am unable to get past the password stage, the computer blanks outs and then says run in safe mode,...

Try the "last good configuration option - that might work.
If it does not you can try running in safe mode, and from there try to uninstall any remaining norton files from the control panel's uninstall software icon/

I have Norton 360 V.2. Last night I downloaded

Boot up the PC in safe mode. How? Well when you start the PC press F8 before the windows start loading. A menu will open up. On top or there so you will find safe mode. Select it and boot. On booting in safe mode you will be warned that your PC is running in safe mode. Done? Now start control panel and then Add Remove Programs. Once that window is populated with all the progs that are installed on your PC, select Norton V3 and uninstall it. Uninstall V2 as well. Restart the PC in normal mode. Now install V3 and compute happily.

Computer won't recognize the Canon powershot A570IS

Norton antivirus or antispam maybe thinking your driver is a virus so it is disabling it and prevent it from working correctly. In order to be sure, disable your norton 360. and reinstall the drivers for your canon. If it worked correctly, the problem is 100% from norton 360.

In this case you have to call canon and norton tech support to help you.

Before you call tech support, try change the security level to a lower setting and try again

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No Internet Connection after Installing Norton 360

I had same problem. I went to Start\All Programs\Accessories\System Tools\System Restore. I picked date before which Norton 360 was installed. It got my internet connection back. I'm not even going to try Norton anymore. Time better spent trying to get my money back.
