Rush to claim your warranty, the only thing you should do first is make sure that the input signal is OK: Hook up any laptop to any other monitor, then immediately (i.e. without changing what the computer is showing) hook it up to your monitor.

Another option is that you have a faulty cable. If it is part of the monitor, the warranty will cover it. If it can be detached from the monitor, borrow another cable to see whether that is the faulty piece.

I just got this eMachine E15Tr monitor and am trying to hook it up to my current pc. They are both hooked up correctly to my knowledge but whenever I turn on my pc the monitor waits to turn on. When it...

You have three components which could be faulty: Computer, cable and monitor. Replace them one by one until you find out which one is giving you trouble:
  1. Hook up a portable computer to the monitor, using the same cable
  2. Same thing, only with a friend's cable that is known to work
  3. Try using the cable to hook up a friend's computer and monitor
  4. Take your monitor to your friend's house and see whether it works there
  5. Try using any other source of image, check the back of your monitor to learn what else you can plug, other than a computer
Each combination you try will give you more information, until you have enough data to isolate the problem. It *could* be that your computer's resolution is not supported by the monitor, but I doubt it.

Have a nx1932w; worked fine until this morning; turn on the monitor (using it as tv) the logo is in black and white and it says no signal - can't even get menu button to work.

the most common problem with LCDs today is failing electrolytic capacitors, especially in the power supply section. Look for bulging, leaking, blown or missing capacitors and replace them.

Screen gets black

Typically the graphics card went out. Other possibilities include, loose monitor cable or short in the cable, or incorrect graphics driver installed or missing, or monitor is shot (least possible). Things to look for: When booting up are you able to see words in the monitor or is there a series of non-regular error code beeps? If beeps then most likely your graphics card is either loose or fried, or incompatible. If you it works fine, but the light on the monitor turns orange and screen goes black, then it's most likely a loose monitor data cable or there is a short in the cable, or monitor's power cable is loose. Then check both connections, power and data on the monitor, and also where it hooks to the computer make sure it's screwed in snug.

Hook up to the CPU

Two cables are needed, Power and Data signal (VGA). Most monitors take the same type of power cord as computer power supplies. (Some computers will allow you to plug in a slightly modified cable that will power the monitor off the computer's power supply. This cord has similar ends on both sides (with the prongs inside a rubber housing). The only issue with this is it makes the power supply work harder and thus can fail sooner.) Most computer supply shops (online and brick-and-mortar) will have the power cables, if you don't have extra cables hanging around.

I hope this helps.

You need to check the Format, either NTSC or PAL, USA = NTSC, Europe etc, PAL. Set this correctly.

Our one year old monitor comes on, but then goes black after just a few seconds. it is not the graphics card. I hooked it up to another computer and it did the same thing.

If the monitor power light on remains on, either the monitor itself or VGA cable is faulty. Move the cable to see if there is any change on the display. I'd suggest changing the cable - less expensive than a monitor. If not the cable, the monitor is faulty.

Fuzzzy noise then blank screen....

Sounds to me like the power board may be bad on that monitor, espeically since it made funny sounds and usually bad transformers will make those types of sounds.

Make sure you don't have any bent pins on the vga cable and also hook up the monitor directly to a wall outlet to be sure a surge protector isn't causing problems.

Now hook up the monitor and also make sure your computer is turning on and booting up cause if the computer is not running properly then that could cause no video as well.

If you still have no video, then go ahead and hook up a known working monitor to the computer, if you get video with this monitor but not the original then you know that the original monitor is bad. If the new monitor gives you the same symptoms then it could be a problem with the video card or motherboard issue if your not getting any video from the computer at all.

When i hook up my comp the monitor stays black...whats going on?

Try remove your VGA card and reinsert and test. And if the problem persist then test your monitor to the other PCs and if it displays then it could be the card is bad or the monito's resolution was ajusted causing to be uncompatible for your PCs resolution.
