Most usb devices have to have the software installed before you plug in the device. unplug it, restart, and run the program. usually the setup will tell you when to plug it in, and at that point it finds it and loads the driver. if you plug it in first it finds new hardware and tried to load the driver right away.

Try eliminating has much as possible from the boot options. Pull the memory so you only have on stick in. Make sure you do not have any thing in any of the pci slots. Try to eliminate as many parts as possible for a clean boot. Make sure you do not have any flash drives or ipod anything like that plugged into the usb ports just keyboard and mouse. Let me know what the results are after that

Im having trouble burning a cd. it goes through the whole cd and it ejects the cd and says that the disk didnt burn

For $40, buy a replacement CD/DVD reader/writer, to replace the "dead" device -- much cheaper than paying a qualified technician to try to trouble-shoot, and then make the same "replace it" recommendation.

Does not recognize disk

Either:
* the disk you're inserting is not "empty" -- try it on a different computer;
* you should try a different manufacturer of "blank" disks;
* you need to upgrade the "firmware" inside your CD-writer, to recognize more brands of "blank" media;
* the CD-reader is malfunctioning -- when you "cancel" the burn-attempt, and insert a commercially-produced program CD or commercially-produced audio CD, can those disks be properly read?
* you have two CD/DVD devices in your computer, and you're inserting the "blank" disk into the "wrong" device.

Did you have the support cd of your device? If you have it, you can use to install the necessary drivers for you device. Else, you can find and download the driver of the device official website.

Hope this could help..:-) Thanks..

Reading disks but wont burn them

The only "help" is to purchase a new "internal" CD-writer, disassemble the casing, remove the "dead" CD-writer, insert the new one, and reassemble the casing.

Have backpack bantam cdrom that has cables to connect to printer

you should be able to just splice the wires together if your asking what i'm thinking. the port your talking about is the smaller port typically found for use of printers and cameras?
If that is the case you should be able to attach the two and i would try to find a diagram layout for you.
I look forward to your post
