The cadence is different, but you can change all the other rings to a different tone. On a 76xx phone, press PROG and the CO button twice. Press your navigator button up (or down) until you hear the tone you like, then press enter to save.

Tones 01,04 and 05 tend to be reasonable.

Hi,

What you need is a Tone generator and Probe. The tone generator sends a sound wave down the wire, and then you can follow that generated pulse through the wall with the probe, tracing the route of the wire.

Take a look at this video. I don't think the kits are all that expensive, depends on how badly you want your door bell :)
Although the video does not show through the wall locating, this type of device does perform that task.

Tone and Probe Set (P/N TP150) has an MSRP of $29.95.

I have a IQ America doorbell with 5 chimes and 5 tunes and the bell only plays a sorta gong which cannot even be heard How do I fix this problem so that it plays a chime/tune?

We had a similar problem with a wired doorbell. There is a diode in the doorbell itself that causes the chime to ring fully. If the diode is backwards, you get just a small tone and can only hear the full chime if you hold the button down. If this sounds like your problem, open up the doorbell at the button end (or have an electrician do it) and reverse the diode.

We had a storm and now the phone lines in the house to not give a dial tone. We did have minor flooding in the basement. I checked the outside box and there is a dial tone there. Also our doorbell is...

Check to see if you "minor" flooding watered a jack or you have a cable lying in the water or got wet. Examine the pins on each jack and cord. Or, as an alternative if you can unplug all but the main phone from the jacks (assuming there are modular jacks for each extension) then plug them in one at a time until the problem comes back, you may be able to pinpoint the bad cable run.

The doorbell buttons and your receiver must be on the same channel. If you will get out the directions that came with your unit, they will describe the process to go through to reset the specific "codes" for your buttons and receiver.
