SOURCE: SELF PROPELL NOT WORKING GOOD

Have you checked the belt that drives the wheel? This is more than likely the problem. It may be broken.

SOURCE: Lawn mower will not start and run

Sounds like a clogged carb or a cracked primer bulb. I would install a carb rebuild kit and new primer bulb if your mower uses one.

SOURCE: Craftsman self propelled lawn mower will not propell

Take off the cover up front on the self propel. Engage the self propel and make sure your cable is not broken. If that is ok then remove the wheels and inspect the molded cogs on the inside of the wheels and make sure they are not stripped out. If they are stripped go to www.sears.com and on the tool bar click on parts direct. Under model number enter yours and it will take you to a parts diagram. Get the part number for the wheels and go to local small engine parts dealer and get new. You can also do a search on the web for the wheels and maybe get them cheaper.

Good luck and let me know if this helps or you need any more help.

I have a self propelled lawn mower and the the belt that propells the wheels is loose, do I need to replace it or is there a way to tighten the tension.

Cathy, there is a way to adjust belt tension on some models whether it is by the cable or a slotted bracket where the idler wheel is mounted, depends on make and model. If you have your manual check in it for belt adjustment. Could be stretched belt, stretched cable, worn/oil on pulley, seized tensioner, stretched/broken spring on tensioner, etc.

Can"t charge battery

Could have 1 or more problems. Bad battery, bad charger, bad wiring/connection, blown fuse, or some had a protection diode in the + line in which could open. Would check fuse first.

What kind of battery does it take

Mowers don't typically take batteries. Possibly riding mowers might, but not push/self propelled mowers. They run off a spark plug and gas and that's it.

My lawn mower will not start using the key not sure what is going on I checked all the conections, and made sure that the battery is charged please help.

Hi. If the battery is fully charged you probably have either a loose battery cable, a corroded battery cable or a corroded key switch. Disconnect the battery and scrub the battery connections and cable connections with emery cloth til they shine. Then spray some electronic contact cleaner into the key hole and on the key and insert it several times to clean it up. J.

22 In Craftsman Self propelled.Starts easy, runs good for about 15-20 mins. Starts missing and dies. Will start again in about 30 mins New spark plug/ air filter

Oh my, that is so annoying. There is probably dirt in the carb. or the gas tank. What I think happens is, the dirt gets sucked up into the fuel line and clogs the carb, then when the mower sits for a while the dirt goes back into the tank for another couple minutes. I have absolutely no tolerance for this when it happens.
